If I had a quid for every time someone on here said "must of" as opposed to "must have" I'd be quite a wealthy bloke.

It's the other way round.
English spelling is perfectly logical, if you look at the derivation of the words. It's the pronunciation which has become crazy over the centuries.

English is a mixture of Anglo Saxon and French and a whole load of "let's latin it up as that's the intellectual language of religion" thrown in. Still one of the easiest languages to learn.
In fact look at your first example, solemn:

IT's a wierd spelling coming down from French and Latin. So it's the French fault, as usual. If that doesn't make you realise Brexit is right, I don't know what will.

Slippers , common amongst those who don't read much i find as they're spelling 'would of' as it's said .... most folk do actually say 'would of' even though it's incorrect (i guess it's because 'would have' sounds clumsy ) .... brought /bought and less/fewest are the ones that most educated people can't get right .. how come ? ...i went to a very poor school by the way ?
it's when news readers get it wrong ...how the f in ell did they get a job reading the news ?
