Mother jailed for 11 years in first British FGM conviction

A 37-year-old mother has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after becoming the first person in the UK to be convicted of female genital mutilation (FGM).

Mrs Justice Whipple added two further years for possessing indecent images and extreme pornography at a hearing on Friday.

"FGM has long been against the law and let's be clear FGM is a form of child abuse," said the judge.

"It's a barbaric practice and a serious crime. It's an offence which targets women, particularly inflicted when they are young and vulnerable."

It is not known why the woman, from east London, inflicted FGM on her three-year-old daughter but witchcraft has been cited as a possibility, the judge said.

Speaking of the psychological effect on the child, Mrs Justice Whipple said: "This is a significant and life long burden for her to carry.

"You betrayed her trust in you as her protector."

What about male genital mutilation?

FGM is not remotely like circumcision in men which men even do by choice (it's extremely common in the US and nothing to do with religion), it's hacking their actual nerves, clitoris, labia etc, out, it's an absolutely horrifying mutilation and incredibly destructive to any pleasure a woman might get from sex, any barbaric POS doing it to a girl should have the book thrown at them and then some.

My foreskin was getting tighter and causing pain when I was 55,because of this I was circumcised.I have lost a lot of feeling around the area and would ban it apart from medical reasons.

You seem to have been in a no win situation seconds again

If you had not had it done you would in agony, you had it done, now no feeling at all
