Why would a single weak point be a bother? Just use the weak point to enjoy some quality time with yourself.

I see, perhaps consider switching bedrooms. I'm trying to remember what we used to do as kids in our bedrooms before the interweb.

I used to tell stories to me little bro, probably somewhat less fanciful ones than you might read on these pages.

Yes they generally work OK, if you put it around halfway between your router and the dead spot. I had a Netgear one which did the job, but recently upgraded to a Netgear Orbi Mesh router, which was quite expensive but works a lot better.

I'd strongly recommend the Nishgear Orbi Nish router.

May be worth checking out. |

If your router has detachable antenna another option is to try a more powerful one, or even move it a bit, which can help if something is directly blocking it.
I.e. if it's in your living room, can it be in the hall mid way? |

If not too much bother an ethernet cable is best for longevity and reliability.

I use the TP-Link extenders that use the mains circuit rather than just extending wifi itself, they come with ethernet ports so you get the option to hard wire or use wifi. Highly recommended.

Second Alpha Centauri post above , I used the TP link extenders and connected the Wi-Fi extender(cheapest one on Amazon at about £12) at the remote end, It didnt really take any configuration and provides quick wi-fi to all parts of the house. I think that the area where my broadband router is has thick walls that absorbed the signal so using a wired connection out of that area did the trick

Some extenders work as in effect a repeater so actually appear to your devices as a second router that accepts a connection and then patches it through to the main router. Do the above ones not do that, but are in effect signal boosters?

By:
JC, you are correct, the extender has a different name in my case that is easy as the extender has the best signal throughout the house but I can see it would be annoying if you had to swap wifi connection depending on what room you are in. I am sure that someone with more competence than me could configure the device so thats not required
