Yep, the world is an odd place. Navratilova who has done a lot for gay rights gets taken to task by other LGBT because she speaks the truth over trans athletes. You can do all the testosterone limiting you like, Navratilova made a great point - these trans athletes were born male and therefore had the advantages that come with that eg larger bone density, generally larger frame and height etc. I've said it before, I have no objection if a tiny proportion of men choose to live their lives as women, but they cannot compete with females in competitive sport. I don't see how this can be anything other than common sense, but apparently not!

Why don't the Olympic Committee just create a third category ?
They have men's events and womens events , so why not an LGBTXYZ or 'other' category . Just lump 'em all in together , no drug testing or 5ex testing , just let 'em get on with it without compromising genuine athletes who wish to compete on a level playing field .

To be fair Reynard, the work of many 30 year old arts graduate is worse than a 6 year olds.

I am actually on alun's side about this ( soap in your mouth is rather unpleasant). Gays and lesbians do what they do but don't impinge on other people so it's their business. The transgender stuff is another matter in lots of ways,not just professional sport. In this country it looks as though Stonewall (having got what they could have ever have wanted for gays,lesbians and bisexuals,with which I do not have a problem) have taken up the transgender agenda (I'm an alliterator and I know it) in order to continue to get various bits of funding.

There was a video (and I think this wasn't a one off) of lesbians having a big fight with transexuals a year or two back.
Nobody(I certainly don't anyway) has any issue with gay men running against straight men etc as there is advantage, no unfairness, it's imho totally reasonable. The problem here is of course people who are biologically one gender having a clear advantage beating people of another biological gender who can barely compete or can't compete at all. It's so PATENTLY unfair.

And it was seen as patently unfair back in the 60s when they introduced sex tests for "female" athletes.
But actually if you go in for pure self-identification there are even more serious implications for safe spaces for women,in gym changing rooms,battered wives'hostels etc.
It would really help if more gays and lesbians in this country had the...er..balls to make this kind of point.

When is a universally respected figure (e.g. Billie Jean King) going to come forward and say 'Enough Is Enough". What was the point of her (and others) doing so much to elevate Women's Sport when it is now being thrown to whichever chancer wants it?

Simple solution, stipulate that the geldings have to concede 30lb to the fillies.

Just how and when did this business of men dressing up as women suddenly become a serious issue?

I remember back in 1987 visiting Heaven night club in London's busy West End. Half a dozen six-footers in frocks and terrible make-up were losing an argument with the bouncers after demanding access to the ladies' toilets. It was quite literally handbags at six paces. But the thing is, no one, not even at that fruitiest of gay venues, thought this was anything to get worked up about, or even taken seriously.

Then, last year, completely out of the blue to me, Theresa May announced a consultation on whether such punters should be able to self-identify as women, and be treated as such legally. It turned out that for years it had been possible to do so on payment of £140 and convincing a medical panel after two years that you were not bonkers or drunk. But Mrs May was suggesting bypassing even that stage.

The thing is, I had no idea until then that legally changing gender was even possible. I realize I'm 58, and I no longer have enough time left to take note of most things in this world which don't affect me. But just how on earth did we ever get from men in frocks being told to stay away from the ladies' toilets in a notorious gay night club, to where we are now, in just three decades? What on earth did I miss?

You have to understand we are a very small group.  People take no notice of us so we have made it political to terroise anyone who appears to be homophobic.  It is quite simple really.  Like the thunderburg, sexism, racism and any other of the isms.

It keeps people in the limelight being correct and builds thousands of careers in academia and politics

Why would that matters? What matters is that real women who put the hours in don't come up against unbeatable cross dressing freaks and become so discouraged that they pack it in.
