Says thousands of files documenting child abuse have been destroyed and Catholic Church has covered up worldwide sexual abuse of children for decades.

Celibacy as a condition of employment must play a part, can they not modernise? They allow married ministers who defect from other religions.

About time Tommy turned his attention to the catholic lot as well imo.

Really, celibacy? How about  using a system that controls the weak and abusing it for gratification. Celibacy don’t exist ,

It goes on in the C of E also nanny, one of our teachers was a peado, his co-accused were a GP and a Vicar. One of the latter two topped themselves before trial, I can't remember which.

when i was a kid we had a childrens home up the road, Nazareth house.
it was in the north of scotland but most of the kids were from the west of scotland/glasgow area & sent there as they had difficult home lives, orphans, folks in jail, on drugs, abusive etc.

they went to my school and one kid used to come in black & blue, i saw him in PE, bruises all over him. one day i just asked him,
what the hell happened & he opened up that the nuns & a couple of priests beat him on a daily basis.

he wouldn't tell me why at first but i got his trust and he told me he wet the bed, we were 13/14 so that was a surprise.
he told me he was made to stand with the wet sheets over his head and hit with a bit of hose. he then also told me one of the
priests "interfered" with him too. i only had his word for any of this but the bruises were real enough.

i had no idea how to deal with it but told my parents who to my shock didn't seem interested. i then told a teacher i
thought i could trust and he didn't seem interested either.

i kept on at him and spoke to the deputy head but he said he was a disturbed young man and couldn't be trusted. the bruises
were from getting into fights (no chance that was true)

the only positive was he said the abuse suddenly stopped, he was sent back to glasgow a few months later at the end of term.
we kept in touch a bit for about a year, and i heard from him occasionally after that, usually when he was in trouble.
he died of heroin overdose aged 23. he never had a chance of a "normal" life.

google Nazareth house Aberdeen, it all came out eventually, it appears he wasn't lying.

The pope really does have some front though doesn't he

He's happy enough to out a few lower level priests but wont resign over the fact he's the sodding boss of them

The buck stops at the top, get every single one of them out of there including the governments that have helped in covering it up

Sex is a very string instinct.

If the Catholic Church does not permit marriage this is testing their priests.

If Priests have paedophile thoughts I feel they must

1. Resign from the Church
or
2. Seek Chemical Castration
or
3. Seek Physical Castration

This is their duty, it should be made available to them...nothing in the Bible justifies paedophilia.

I am not sure the Pope should resign, unless he cannot live with this.

A lot of this abuse is historical, before he was Pope.

What he needs to do is to find a way of stopping this.

just my own opinion.

there is no logical reason priests are celibate. nothing in the bible says it should be so.
it didn't used to be so, i think one pope decided and it has ever been thus. just ridiculous
but then everything about religion is ridiculous
