Doesn't taking your deposit constitute a contract? Maybe you have grounds to insist on that car or something better?

He took my card number, but hadn't put it through! |

Looking on the bright side, I thought this was going to be another viagra thread when I read the title, so it's not all bad.

You dodged a bullet. That 200 engine is not Mercedes’ best and you’d be much better off going for a 250 even though that’s likely to be a diesel. You’d be better off spending a bit more and going for an SL350 if it’s within your budget although you’d be looking at a much older model.

You actually could be correct, as I gave my details at 10:10, and it was at least twenty minutes later, when the other person secured the car!
Thing is that they won't be able to come up with another like for like spec! This was JCT 600 and, for whatever reason, it was being offered at their VW site! |
|
By:
Johny, I can't go for a diesel, because most of my mileage is short trips, and the diesel engines are slower to heat up, and until that happens the carbon deposits are not expelled!
To replace a particulate filter is a major expense! |
|
By:
Fair point. I just find the 200 engine rather feeble at 180+bhp.

When I said "Nationwide" that referred to "AutoTrader"....

Just re my last point about the engine performance, I hope it didn’t come across as patronising. Just trying to say that those bigger Merc engines are where all the action is.

At 7.1 0-60 it's never going to be as fast as my 3.2 TT quattro, but no slouch as a comfortable GT car!
The big revelation, is the quoted MPG of 33 urban, and 53 motorway! |

By:
Not at all Johnny, we don't need to mince our words on here, but I'm of an age where I want comfort and style;
not drifting and doughnuts! I wanted that car so bad, and now I hope it's a bag of rats! |
|
By:
I know what you mean. I bought a new GLC last year which just glides along but it completely lacks the excitement that an SL will give you. Must be my age. ..
|
|
By:
I wish I hadn't bought so many new cars.....
Four from 2004 to 2009.....ridiculous! Reason for that was the mega mileage that I did, when I was working for a crust! The last one I kept for three years, and only did 11k miles (chucked in the towel in November '09)! |

1st world problems.
Get a Mk1 Escort Mexico like a real man. Failing that, a 1990's Toyota Crown - in brown. |

Exact same thing happened to me with a brand new Rolls Royce Phantom.
Ended up with a Ford Focus. Gutted. |

I was in the market for a Testarossa but the wife didn't like the colour. Had to settle for a Mondeo in the end.

Lol Mercedes, get yourself down to the nearest Lexus garage, light-years ahead, I could buy a Lexus from the 90s that'll show up a 2019 Merc, plus it doesn't break down every month. Lexus made the finest V6 ever built.

If it wasn't an AMG, with the glass roof, and "Air Scarf" there are a few, not too far away, but I'm spoilt now! |

Oh dear. Quite possibly the most embarrassing post in the history of social media. Nope that title is still retained by yourself after the Fred you started about winning 1k where you quite literally had an orgasm in your pants still makes me chuckle |

Yippee...found another, not too far away at Stratstone....
Clicked view details and got "this at our partners site...."Car Store"! That just sounds like where they store overflow stock! No contact details...just an enquiry form which wouldn't send, without clicking "Reserve this car"! That requires a £99.00 refundable deposit....Oh Yeah..refundable when? Off the price of the car when you buy it? Spoke to Stratstone again, asking why they advertise it, and this was the answer.... "Car store is part of our group however we can not sell their vehicles as they don’t reach our Mercedes-benz standards" Kind regards Zara Pazir Retail Team Leader |
