Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.

1 second is defined to be exactly "the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium-133 atom" (at a temperature of 0 K).

makes it much clearer ! Crazy

Due to something called entropy !
.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy

The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of an isolated system never decreases. Such systems spontaneously evolve towards thermodynamic equilibrium, the state with maximum entropy.

Non-isolated systems may lose entropy, provided their environment's entropy increases by at least that amount so that the total entropy increases.

Entropy is a function of the state of the system, so the change in entropy of a system is determined by its initial and final states. In the idealization that a process is reversible, the entropy does not change, while irreversible processes always increase the total entropy.

I think I understand the original question, given who's asked it.

When the big hand points straight upwards, at the 12; that means it's something O'clock. The big hand is the "Minute" hand
You need to look at the small hand (the one on the clock) to see what hour it is.

Just say when you need the second part of the lesson.

There have been some very interesting, but sadly flawed, attempts to explain the nature of time by certain members of the scientific community recently. Essentially, the Block Universe theory posits that spacetime exists as part of a four-dimensional block, and that the Universe is a block containing all the things that have ever happened and will ever happen.

My own thoughts are that is complete hogwash. I aim to prove some time in the near future - a near future which according to the Block theory already exists - that time expands in the same way as space. I sense that the scientific community's inability to pin down the cosmological constant to an exact figure is a product of this misunderstanding. Sadly my limited ability to explain these conjectures mathematically means that you people will just have to take my word for it. Laugh

HTH.
