Who was or is your favourite Snooker player?

It has to be the one and only Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins .

My fav was Hurricane Higgins, but I was also a big fan of Ray Reardon, Jimmy White, and Kirk Stevens.

I met Jimmy White and was in his company for about an hour, tremendous character and really down to earth.
Was at a snooker tournament. Told us not to bet him as the only thing he'd had in his hand for the past week was a pint.

Used to practise with Bill back in the day,at his house had women roaming all over it,beer cans all along the side of the table great character died to young unsurprisingly.Favourite player was Alex higgins,another genius ruined by drink shouldv'e dominated the game in the 70s and 80s crazy he won such little compared to his talent,will never be a character in the gane like that ever,that 69 break is still the greatest ever will never be bettered..

For entertainment value is has to be Alex, Ronnie & Jimmy (in that order)… for sheer ability Ronnie is #1

I've also had lunch with Steve Davis who is/was as down to earth as they come... he also paid!

Ray Reardon was (as you say) a great player and entertainer and finally John Virgo for the efforts he made to make the game fun

The Hendry boy ,saw him practising in boness snooker club ,had as much talent and skill as you could imagine, as he got older the flair was replaced by the need to win. He would have been 15 managed to get a small amount on him to be world champ at decent odds. So on betting Hendry on entertainment value the hurricane.

Another vote for Jimmy White, I used to see him at Wimbledon dog track often. A really decent bloke and he loved a pint and a punt.

Eddie Charlton(Pot Black highest break ever)

Saw both Ray Reardon and John Virgo doing exhibition matches at a local club. Think they were employed by a brewery, but both funny as fook. Watched a match between Terry Griffiths and Higgins back in the day. Higgins had someone bringing him a drink about every ten minutes and must have gone through a couple of packs of cigarettes. Remember my mate remarking that he wouldn't be able to see the table let alone pot anything if he'd drunk as much as Alex.

John Virgo used to own a horse called 'Jokist' it was running at Windsor one afternoon and I asked him if he fancied it today. He said I'll be very surprised if he is out of the frame and has a chance to win (I think it was 7/1) so I had a few shillings on each way. It finished down the field of course He was very amicable to talk to though I must say.

He is indeed slippy, just a lousy tipster sorry for laughing, it was the name of the horse Jokist.

You wouldn`t think watching on the telly but Dracula was a very very funny man and great guy. Miss his patter.

Steve 'interesting' Davies

I admit I used to like watching the others better than him, higgins, white etc, but overall I liked him personally.

It was a shame though that of all the men I watched playing snooker none were sexy.  My girlfriend playing pool and wiping the table of allcomers was sexy as f....

Good story Aka, I never met Jimmy but I did shake his hand after a match where he beat a plooky faced 16 year old from Stirling

Plat was with Stephen Hendry and his ma nager a few days prior to that.
