I have not...I missed it in my youth...even though I watched 'Easy Rider', great film.
I do not know why we do not legalize it now, it is legal in N.Korea. Still if was legal, the posts on here would become even more incomprehensible It seems to have adversely affected you Culvin...you are right to stay off |

From aged 18 until my mid 30's I would smoke a couple of joints every day pretty much, the proper weed i.e. sensemelia and Thai sticks and not that horrible smelly stuff skunk. It never bothered me, it didn't affect my life and I enjoyed a spliff back in the day when you went to a concert and could spark up no problem especially. Then I just decided to stop, I had no craving and I've never smoked cigarettes in my entire life ironically so I didn't have nicotine withdrawal issues either. I just grew out of it really and I wouldn't have a puff now if you paid me.

Drugs are the scourge of society. Go to any inner city during the day and they are filled with zombies.
All the shootings in London are down to drugs. Never tried them and never would. Been offered cocaine and weed but no thanks. Got enough addictions. |

A good friend of mine told me how he had discovered a new part of his brain. Said he could listen to music and concentrate on only the instruments he wanted to hear, and send the rest to background. That's how I decided to try weed. And he was bloody right! After smoking, I could separate the guitarist from the pianist and ignore the lyrics if I wanted to. All of a sudden I had way more options to use when listening to music. I realized how our body has functions that we just never will use in our whole lives!
Sadly on the third or the fourth such session, I overdosed. Layed on my bed knowing I was dying. A colorful wheel kept spinning in my head and I couldn't stop it. If I moved a finger, it felt like blood left my finger, circulated the whole of my body and came back. I wondered what would happen if I made bigger movements so clenched my fist and opened again and it was a very unpleasant feeling and I realized I couldn't afford to move. The next thing that came to my mind was how my family would react when they find me in the morning. I had locked the door from inside so I thought the least I should do is open the door so someone can come in in the morning. So I got up, unlocked the door, layed back on the bed and contemplated what i'd done in my life so far. However, I realized I hadn't really unlocked the door and everything had only happened in my head. I unlocked the door two more times, realizing both times that I was just imagining it, and not really doing it. After about two hours I was fine, having thrown up already 3 times. As a result of this, I am unable to inhale smoke, which is a blessing. But I am very interested in knowing how the brain can tap unused resources with weed. |

See nothing wrong with weed should be legalised tomorrow, every other street in Britain has a dealer or grower, alcohol causes much more aggro.

I agree houseofpain, I would legalise weed as well. I could walk out of my front door right now and get an ounce in 20 minutes no problem.

Think 90% of people could these days slippy, i see a documentary on tv the other day, mike tyson making serious money from it opened a 40 acre site growing it, and another opening soon. Could bring in serious tax.

legalise the lot. nothing will change, drugs are easily available.
Prohibition does not work |

I know a couple of people who have recently come off drugs. I think I offended them by inviting them over for a bite to eat on Boxing Day.

The amount of money involved and the usual suspects not being the beneficiaries of weed business is the reason why it isn't legal. It has nothing to do with crime as people always say. Its about the money not being in the right hands at the moment.
If weed could only be bought through banks, or if banks had a cut on every transaction, it would be legal. That is a simple example. The day the rich AND powerful control the business, your parliamentarians will be debating on it the very next day and legalizing it on the third. |

I don't currently smoke weed, but have done several times down the years and if a joint was offered to me now I'd have no problem having a toke. I also agree with most on here; legalise it and be done with it. It's non addictive so easily stopped too. As for the music I have to agree with that aspect too. Listening to Angel Eyes (Roxy Music) on headphones, stoned, blows you away. I'm sure there are many others that can be added to that list.

weed makes you demotivated, it can make you depressed. don't agree that it's not addictive, maybe the actual weed isn't but the lifestyle can be.
I know cus I used to smoke the stuff. also the stronger variety they seem to sell now, is laced with psycho-active chemicals that can trigger mental illness. can also make you aggressive because of this, recall going to Amsterdam, a lot of the pot heads there are quite aggressive because they smoke so much of it. so yes it does have a nice kind of vibe about it, but there's a dark side too. |

Tried it once, several decades back, and it seemed like a way of getting merry without needing to empty my bladder every half hour or so.
But since I drank shorts not pints, I already had that, so there was not much point smoking this illegal stuff. |
|
By:
it is not addictive. wanting or even craving it is not the same as needing it.
i quit easily as soon as i decided i wanted to, nicotine on the other hand was a real struggle to quit. bloody awful struggle but got there in the end. well done me ![]() |
|
By:
I suppose it depends on your constitution and your lifestyle. After nearly 20 years of smoking, as I said earlier, pretty much every day I just stopped and never had a joint again so I'm proof it is not addictive. It helped me I suppose in that I never smoked cigarettes though.
|
|
By:
when i quit pot i never had any problems, trying to quit cigarettes cold turkey was murder.
like having a bad case of flu, i failed. vapes was the only thing that finally got me off them. if you never smoked you are very wise |
|
By:
It isn't physically addictive as is being proved on here by ex-smokers. OK, sleep might be affected for a week to so but that's about the worst of the withdrawals. Any addiction is purely psychological and easily overcome.

^ it really isn't. nicotine addiction is not in the mind. strong will may make it easier to overcome but trust me it is a real addiction |
|
By:
Never said nicotine northanlite. We're talking weed which isn't always via a cigarette. Nicotine (I've read) is in the top 3 substances for addiction; I'm fully aware of that.

By:
but you wrote "any addiction" so that wasn't clear

I thought the thread alone made it clear but I take your point

Just the once when a joint was passed round, and I took two long drags, and felt most peculiar!
My chest area was "buzzing", and not a pleasant experience.... |
