He's got no idea whatsoever of what this involves.Prior to having both knees replaced I could barely walk 200 metres without having to rest and the pain would leave me drenched in sweat.No doubt others on here will have had a similar experience.
I would describe his supposed pain as a minor inconvenience,albeit one which inhibits him to compete at the highest level.

i get pain in shoulder knees and ankle iv got rheumatoid artthritis i take 8 methotrexate every monday and have a steriod injection 2 times a year doctors say its wear and tear yes the pain is bad at times
