My post may sound a bit odd but the only surprising part here is that the woman got pregnant. And gave birth. The rest might well be the norm.

An unthinkable crime that opens up a serious question.
Where does the rights of the innocents in the case lay?

There is at least 1 guilty party, one who had access to her in that defenceless state, but there must have been plenty more who did while being guilty of nothing.
From my understanding this requires special dispensation in order to gather DNA from all male suspects.
They will ofc find a way and the guilty will be caught, it’s too horrendous a situation not to find the guilty.
But what does it take to forget the rights of those who are innocent who will have their DNA collected as a result?

Is it enough that a singular odious action is enough to counter the rights of multiple innocents?
We have had these sorts of arguments recently about the liberties of the population of Britain based on arguments that there are degenerates among us, the snoopers charter was all about sacrificing people’s rights to privacy because some people touched kids or planned terror.

On the face of it people might say if the DNA wasn’t stored then it would be ok.
But it doesn’t take much to realise cases such as these could act out totalitarianism that bypasses laws because the unthinkable happened.
Terrorism itself is such a case, the effects of terrorism is such a small factor of all crime it’s barely worth mentioning, yet it’s a red flag in conditioning the people into manipulating them.

Beats me why it's not mandatory for our entire population to have their dna stored away....it would certainly help with speedily identifying criminals so what's the problem .

Because the sequencing of the DNA can lead to people knowing more about you than you do.
It’s a small step to the private sector using that information against you for their profit.
The simplest example would be insurance companies refusing to insure you.

What’s surprising to me is how people today get their DNA sequenced for trivial reasons, ancestory rubbish for eg.
Once it’s sequenced that’s it, it’s done and companies sell information between themselves all the time.
