Have you notice in most scorsese films that there's always a scene where the wife is trying leave the hubby whilst dragging the kids along.

I liked it but ... understood the plot from having worked in the City.

Without background knowledge or press explanations from the the time of its cinema release, I guess it might just seem like pointless debauchery spread over two hours.

I have seen it but it is not a flim I would ever watch again. I gave it 3/10 and was quite close to walking out of the cinema to go for a pint!

Truth is Like Poetry........ Have you noticed how many people ffffffing hate poetry?

I can't say I'm surprised that many people didn't 'like' the film.

Tbf it was about three hours long, and the particular boiler room scam they were using is not well known here and nor is Jordan Belfort infamous because we do not have that American direct investment culture, and even the drug names are different.

And did I mention it was three hours long? I quite liked it but would happily have cut out every other scene and especially the boat scene at the end to get down to 90 minutes.

I enjoyed it, but like Ramrura says it is a bit bloated.

Think Di Caprio should have got his first Oscar for Gilbert Grape... amazing for such a young actor (at the time)

The best character is de caprios dad,the scene where he has to take a phone call while he’s home watching tv is brilliant.reminded me of my old man.

Watched the film a few years back ,mostly with a sense of disgust and quickly forgot about it but the recent attention it has recieved due to where the money to make this film came from ,or at least that’s what’s they are saying  although exactly who that funds real investors are seems unclear. One thing I find amusing is what Belfort said about the film makers and their offer to him to appear at Cannes for a glitzy  launch one year before filming even began ,he said he knew straight away it was all dodgy ,which was incidentally exactly what the FBI said about belforts oakmont brokerage company Plain.                       http://www.historyvshollywood.com/video/gregory-coleman-interview/

They offered belfort $500k to appear at Cannes (allegedly) but he turned it down even though he was required to pay $110m in restitution to victims ,all seems very odd imo .

Can't believe how anybody wouldn't like it! Great fun and what a performance by Di Caprio! 9/10 for me!
