My muscles seize up when I consume wheaty foods, especially at night sleeping, so I gave it up, pain free since, though others on here have said previously they don't have a problem, not sure why it affects me that much and others not.

that aside, wheat belly can't be good, neither can the processes which bread goes through.

Trouble with me is that I've grown used to (and love) sandwiches for lunch. That's four slices right there.
Report Torquemada • January 4, 2019 7:03 PM GMT
As a family we probably get through two loaves a day. Shocked
Report Hank Hill • January 4, 2019 7:08 PM GMT
Probably half a loaf of whole wheat, but usually demolish a whole ciabatta loaf to myself once a week.

4 slices of Burgen Bread a day. Less carbs than most other bread.
Report GoBallistic • January 4, 2019 7:45 PM GMT
I'm addicted to Hovis Granary also

Gave up white bread about 2 years ago. Once in a blue moon (every few months) I might have a slice of brown bread, but thats it.

Why ?  I lost about a stone and a half in the space of 10 weeks, something I've never managed before.

It wasn't easy, and I missed it like crazy for the first few months. I'd been eating about 4 slices per day for well over 40 years. Hell of a habit to break.

According to Slimming world two slices of 400g wholemeal bread is your fibre for the day. Any more it then become syns 3syns per slice. As a man your allowed 25 syns a day. Five slices a day Torquemada is too much.........but easily done Sad

In my youth I would regularly eat a whole unsliced loaf every day. These days it's just one or two slices.
Report mouse muldoon • January 4, 2019 8:47 PM GMT
6 rounds of french toast with maple syrup.

I LOVE BREAD , but i wouldn't eat any made by the likes of mothers pride or warburtons. The stuff they make is just mass produced mush. I  wouldn't even feed that to pigeon's .Bread is a sacred food . People all over the world have their own traditional breads , which i believe would not only be healthy but also delicious .I think real bread is one of our most important foods and we should only eat that type of bread. Anyone here ever tasted an african bread called , injera ?

Bread is a sacred food

To all faiths I believe.

you can roll mothers pride bread up and use them as highly efficient dough balls in catapults for whacking the neighbours dog with

If you want to restrict your bread intake, put a nice sliced loaf in the freezer.

Use as required.  I usually toast it.  Can toast from frozen.

Prevents 'eating it while its fresh' or 'just finish off that loaf' thoughts.

I watched the Rick Stein program where he was travelling along a canal through France and he stopped in a place, where there was a large ex pat population. There was a shop selling English products. He asked whether any French came in the shop, and the woman said yes, they like our tea and sliced bread Laugh

I eat it if it's there but I can go days without it.
Just finished my Grey Gluten Free Powder Bread, won't eat any more for a few days now.

If I'm desperate for a carby snack I might quickly knock up some pasta porridge or noodles.
Report SlippyBlue • January 5, 2019 4:39 PM GMT
On average I would say that every day I would eat 2 slices of wholemeal bread and a crusty roll as well for my afternoon snack with some salad and roast beef for example, oh and a packet of crisps of course!
Report scandanavian_haven • January 5, 2019 5:41 PM GMT
What's your favourite Pot Noodle Just checking?
Report scandanavian_haven • January 5, 2019 5:43 PM GMT
only joking of course.

New Years resolution was to eat more healthily, I've been eating 5 fruits a day, sick of it already.
Report Just Checking • January 5, 2019 5:52 PM GMT
I don't mean pot noodle, which is pretty vile and takes up too much cupboard space.
I mean either supernoodles or the man chinese type little packets you can get.
I used to love curry flavour supernoodles but they changed the recipe so it now tastes like disgusting liquorice.
The person behind that should be fired and never work in the food industry again. They are so rank.
So I only would eat their chicken at a push, other brands are better, and often cheaper.

You can use those little noddle packets as a base for a complete meal very easily.

(Noddle packets. These are the types of food eaten by the lead singer of "Slade").

We have a great family run bakery in Ealing..... Parker's, Northfield Avenue.....White baguette is my favourite......The Crown loaf is very good also.

I eat maybe 3 or 4 slices or half a baguette per day.

Don't always get to the shop so have to make do with the inferior Waitrose baguette often.
