Always a few ads. for funeral plans etc on TV. While I want my family to have enough money to provide the funeral THEY want for me, I will not be giving any guidance. As I will not be there in mind to see it, I really have no interest in what they do with my body.

I'm sure you can have a plan where the plans are made after your death.  Worth paying in advance in cases where you havent got that much in assets before the government nab it to pay for care home fees.

I want to be cremated.  In a cardboard box.

Might ask for 'Living in a Box' to be played at the funeral service.

Gateshead Council are cashing in with their very own funeral service such are the projected death rates and profit margins.

Told my lot cheap as possible. My ashes to be scattered into the river Rother at Fittleworth bridge where I've spent many a happy day fishing. Beware of funeral plans, often there are additional costs especially if you live for a long time after the plan was taken out.

Avoid care home costs by drinking yourself to death while you're able to.

Unless you fancy prolonging the agony and being treated like a child in a care home looked after by who knows what.

I find those adverts completely crass beyond words. The "actors" say they haven't got 4 grand to pay for their own funeral yet they always seem to live in a nice house with a conservatory and a lovely garden!

cremation is the answer

save a lot of money
take up very little space
and go with more dignity

Didn't David Bowie go for that funeral Bigmo? - Straight to cremation... no service, no thrills and a lot cheaper on relatives.

Laugh @ trilby! I want to be cremated, all my family and friends to have an absolutely massive pi@@ up afterwards in The Crown And Greyhound in Dulwich Village on me and then scatter my ashes at the winning post at Sandown park and jobsagoodun. Hopefully it won't be for quite awhile as I've still got quite a few things to do!Wink

Mini skip will be fine if it's cheaper.

You can even sling your trash in with me and make a pyre.

Ultra-low costs cremations are me Excited

Leaving them to deal with all the hassle and arranging it when you could be doing it yourself shows a lack of responsibility and selfihshness imho...

As for those who refused to retire until they had to, put their ashes in an egg timer.

That way they can work when they're dead as well.

I love these people who want to express a wish about their funeral. YOU WONT BE THERE (unless you include your dead body) so why would the family follow your instructions? It is their event not yours. But then humans have never been logical. The cost is not an issue as I intend to leave plenty.
