be careful not to take in to much polyphenols, remember that some foods have too much salt,be careful about the fat content.Watch than you dont take in too much sugar, make sure you get protein, watch the carbs, you are better with vitamin rich food, that have minerals in it,that way you will get nutrients, check your calorie intake, avoid too much starch, eat fibre rich foods and keep an eye on the b vitamins ,always keep your correct potassium level, and be careful of food that is high on polysaturates  .

Apparently Leffe the monks belgian beer are going to make an alcohol free version. Is nothing sacred?
The main reason for drinking the stuff is if you don't see a pink elephant you might have a religious experience!

He was strong enough to give up the booze so he should be strong enough to give up the chocolate biscuits and toffees as well, or at least limit them to a sensible amount.

I eat what I enjoy eating as I have done for the 70 years that I have been old enough to choose. It is all about quantity of energy, amino acids, vitamins and minerals in the last analysis. If energy in equals energy out your weight will stay the same. I do know what I am talking about as I have a post graduate degree in animal nutrition. The risk of no salt is much greater than too much for a start. We went to great lengths to monitor salt levels in animal diets. Admittedly a lot of processed food contains too much salt but having no salt at all will kill you. Where do you think the salt in your blood comes from? Most professional sportsmen need supplementary salt to replace that lost in sweat.

We're doomed; food has been made too delicious and addictive. The food manufacturers know ever trick in the book to keep us eating.

It's our nature to eat our fill, and the fat in the food which we eat gets stored for a rainy day.
That rainy day never comes, so we get fatter and fatter.

Big bellies, big bums, and breasts on men are now regarded as normal.

Most people can't fight it because they're either too weak, and/or they believe the wrong things about diet.
And the first myth that makes losing weigh so difficult is that we need to eat a balanced diet in order to be healthy.

Scary (for them) that people still think energy in vs energy out will keep your weight the same whilst paying no attention to what it is they're eating and in what macros or timing.
Dr C you are spot on we are doomed I would've said completely fcuked as the disease rates continue to skyrocket and the numbers living on medication with avoidable illnesses going through the roof, mouse lemons are good for your digestion and liver better squeezed in water as the acid rots your teeth women aren't fond of gummies.

Living longer, healthier lives is a noble aim.

But for everyone who achieves health in their old age there will be many more who are kept alive by the NHS, placing huge financial burden on the State.

One answer is for the healthier oldies to work longer. 75 perhaps? Somehow I can't see that being popular..

I suppose that I have always been very active so could eat what I liked for most of my life. Now I am older and less active I don't feel so hungry so eat less. That is how your body is designed to work. At 74yo I am a stone heavier than I was when I was 40yo and running 35 miles a week on top of a physical working day. I eat less of the bulky stuff (potatoes, rice, bread, pasta) but the same amount of what I enjoy like meat and chocolate.
