I've not seen Purple for a few years now but you'll not hear this song live again.

As great as Ian Gillan is, there are certain notes a vocalist cannot possibly reach at his age!

It's a classic all right!

Check out a full length live version - even the studio version.  Sceeeeeeeeeeeeeens!

Became a Purple fan in my teenage years , bought an album called Deep  Purple MK I and II

First disc is the original band doing Help , Hey Joe , Hush .

The second album features the classic 5 some , my fav was the incredible live version of Highway Star.

The Liverpool team are constantly in motion , gliding through the opposition it is agreeable to see , beautiful the image they produce and glorious

Hush is a top tune.  Some band or other covered it a few years' ago.  Not a patch on the original!

I've not heard Purple doing those other two, 626.

Google is my friend Cool

Or anyone else, for that matter,  ever did.

Yep, DP members even claimed they wrote it apparentlyCrazy.   Tim Rose and of course Hendrix's version is far better.

Nothing can match "Burn" as a Gillan era song imho, it's majestic but at 600 mph.
It's such a good song,  in Scotland the entire nation has a night covering its various remixes in January.

Culvin ....what were you listening to in 1974 ?

Deep Purple were my favourite band, Pink Floyd a close 2nd...?
Report Culvin February 9, 2019 6:46 PM GMT
In 1974 , I was listening to Doris Day , singing Nick Nack Paddy Wack .
Report Just Checking February 9, 2019 6:47 PM GMT
If you took burn and put more distortion on the guitar imho it was speed metal 20 years before anyone else did it.
Metallica invented NOTHING! Laugh
Report Culvin February 9, 2019 7:02 PM GMT
Just Checking , I'm hearing it on a loop . I'm hearing it constantly ,, since you let me know about it . Thanks , JC .

If you didn't know deep purple you probably don't know much about Rainbow who are kind of related to them. Try listening to "stargazer" by Rainbow with Dio singing, makes child in time seem amateurish :P

Still depressing to thing the little guy with the lungs of a blue whale is gone.
Report Culvin February 9, 2019 7:27 PM GMT
Yeh , I know Deep Purple now , my mate trilby , introduced me to them , just after Christmas . I don't know Rainbow , but I'll listen to Stargazer . Thanks , again .
Report Just Checking February 9, 2019 7:31 PM GMT
I actually prefer Rainbow to Deep Purple I think. Try "Kill the King" by them if you liked Burn. It sounds political but I read somewhere it's actually written about .....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YYP7LlLsbA

a game of chess ;) It's a belter of a song.
Report Culvin February 9, 2019 7:34 PM GMT
I'll do that , J C .
Report Culvin February 9, 2019 8:03 PM GMT
Just Checking , I liked both those Rainbow songs , a tad spinal tappy sounding , but i liked them . I much prefer Deep Purple , though .
Report Culvin February 9, 2019 8:06 PM GMT
Now hearing A Rainbow song called , 'Catch The Rainbow' , I'm liking
this very much .
Report Just Checking February 9, 2019 8:10 PM GMT
Rainbow are a bit hit and miss and had a wider range of styles with VERY different singers, from that sort of more 70s prog rock style with RJD to more catchy "hits" like .. "Since you been gone" and "I surrender" which are great but in a different way.
Report The Leopard February 9, 2019 8:22 PM GMT
