If they're not they must be pretty confident they can avert Brexit, or at least get the deal on offer accepted.

Have they really got T May in their pocket?

Seems like they have if they're making no preparations for a clean break.

Yet the UK is preparing to leave without a deal.

Look it up PP.

I take it you know how to do a search?
Report Callisto-moon December 11, 2018 12:12 PM GMT
I think they think they can bluff everyone.
Report PorcupineorPineapple December 11, 2018 12:21 PM GMT
Aah. If you want some advice, either don't stake at the start or try to bluff a little longer. Folding so early is such a poor play.

Anybody know what PP is on about about?
Report Dr Crippen December 11, 2018 12:35 PM GMT
Somebody show PP how to do a search.

Tell him to start on the Gov.UK site.

They EU claimed back in October that preparations for a "so-called no-deal scenario" had risen to the top of the agenda after Raab had flown to Brussels to pull the plug on May's first attempt at a sellout.

Gawd knows whether a rambling, politicized bureaucracy like the one in Brussels is actually capable of pulling its finger out and sorting out the necessary paperwork though.

My translation: Following last Sunday's temporary breakdown in the Brexit negotiations, more intensive planning has started for a disorderly departure of Great Britain from the EU. According to diplomatic circles on Tuesday, preparations for a so-called no-deal scenario had "risen to the top of the agenda" in view of developments at the weekend.

The EU are treating the UK with contempt yet the opposition parties and their supporters, including those on here, are siding with them.

It is tribal in the House Of Commons even the carnivores eating the veggies. Absolutely no courtesy or decorum given not even among friends  - every one for him/herself.

half our imports and exports are with the EU - but not the other way round - so no deal is much less significant for the EU

Actually...

In 2017, UK exports to the EU were £274 billion UK imports from the EU were £341 billion.mentary
Therefore a trade war would hurt them more than us.

Figures from the Parliamenatry website.
Report A_T December 15, 2018 2:34 PM GMT
Therefore a trade war would hurt them more than us

Nonsense. Half our exports are to the EU - but not half of the EU's is to the UK - about 16%. So much less significant for them.

It obviously varies by industrial sector and location etc.

For example the German premium car market I'm sure sends a lot more cars to the UK than to Bulgaria.
Report Just Checking December 15, 2018 2:43 PM GMT
And standout total figure IS accurate, we have a large trade deficit, on total, with them.
I'm sure dutch flower sellers want a deal far more than a control freak arrogant **** (alleged) alkie like Junker....
Report UBLE/REGY December 15, 2018 3:55 PM GMT
Well I really hope a deal is agreed

Both us and the EU really need to continue to do business, even if we outside the EU

If we had stuck to a common market and not this stupid immigration there would have been to trouble at all

Let us hope

There will be thousands of Beemers and Mercs due to come here that will not now be ordered  , lots
of German car workers will not be needed. The EU will also need a new wine lake.

Junker's Luxembourg received just as much as it paid into The EU in 2016. On the other hand Tusk's Poland received about £8bn more than it paid into The EU.

There is another world outside the unproductive EU; varieties of products will improve, and more competitive prices too; less of the disgusting foie gras or frog legs. It might even open up further our culinary taste buds post Brexit.

Sometimes one needs to take a walk on the wild side...everything gonna be alright, chill!

We joined what we thought was a trading union, then our self serving politicians allowed us to become part of a political union.

Now they're trying to stop the will of the people being carried out by dragging their feet at every opportunity.
