The shorter list maybe only inc league games maybe that's the " shortfall " on the other list.
Report i_agree_with_nick April 20, 2019 11:50 AM BST
Pump - see my posts at 10:34 and 10:38

Yes - it seems the figures include youth matches. That would explain my higher figure for PS at Leicester.
Report pumphol. April 20, 2019 11:54 AM BST
I thought off several players & when I looked up on wiki they were all short of 1000 in essence most were on the list, that Inc Allan Ball who when I looked was only on 900 but he's on your list, others than I thought were short are on it, looks like the list I have used for years never inc any domestic cup games or European ties which is ridiculous.
Apologies Blush

Which Parliamentary constituency is the oldest in continuous existence in the UK?
Report pumphol. June 7, 2019 1:30 PM BST
No-one is gonna know that Nickwithout looking it up, my guess would be somewhere in Oxfordshire, midlands area.
Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 1:53 PM BST
This would be a £250k question on WWTBAM but of course you'd have four options.

It did occur to me that it was a poor question - not much scope for logic or reasoning either.

The answer is Lincoln; established 1265.

City of York is as old or slightly older but the seat split in 2010.

Which European country was the first to recognise the State of Israel in 1948

Arsenal.
Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 3:10 PM BST

Cool

Arsenal played their first floodlit game against a team from which country

Is it Israel?
Report pumphol. June 7, 2019 3:19 PM BST
lol yes it is
Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 3:25 PM BST
I would imagine most European countries would have recognised Israel fairly soon after its establishment but don't know the answer and never really considered it.

I just kind of assumed a 'Yes' vote at the UN was an implicit recognition. Thinking about it, I guess some countries voted 'No' but did later recognise the state of Israel.
Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 3:34 PM BST
Yes, just googled it and I see that India recognised Israel in 1950 and iirc they voted 'No'.
Report pumphol. June 7, 2019 3:41 PM BST
Still countries that would fail to let people in if they have as much as an Israeli stamp on their passport.

Which British club lost out to AC Milan in the Semi-Final of the 62/63 European Cup, having disposed of Cologne, Sporting Lisbon and Abderlecht in the earlier rounds?

Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 9:48 PM BST
Dundee?
Report themightymac June 7, 2019 9:51 PM BST
Correct Nick. WD. Managed by Shankly.

When I said close, similar nicknames, The Blues and The Dark Blues.
Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 9:54 PM BST
Yes, "close" did have me wondering.

There's an old quiz question along the lines of, "name the British cities to have had two teams in EC semi-finals".  Dundee was often the one people couldn't get.
Report themightymac June 7, 2019 10:01 PM BST
Bob Shankly of course - Bill`s brother.
Report themightymac June 7, 2019 10:03 PM BST
That`s a good quiz question Nick. Confused

Dundee
Glasgow
Manchester
London
Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 10:12 PM BST
Actually, I think the question is:

Name the cities (all nations) to have had two teams in European Cup or ECL semi-finals.

Can you name them though? (I'm not sure how many there are but six or eight rings a bell.)
Report i_agree_with_nick June 7, 2019 10:33 PM BST
I would say:

Libya
Iran
Oman
Syria

I think there might be at least two countries outside the Arab League.

That makes it harder but I`ll give it a go off the top of my head.
