I thought off several players & when I looked up on wiki they were all short of 1000 in essence most were on the list, that Inc Allan Ball who when I looked was only on 900 but he's on your list, others than I thought were short are on it, looks like the list I have used for years never inc any domestic cup games or European ties which is ridiculous. Apologies

This would be a £250k question on WWTBAM but of course you'd have four options.
It did occur to me that it was a poor question - not much scope for logic or reasoning either.
The answer is Lincoln; established 1265.
City of York is as old or slightly older but the seat split in 2010.

I would imagine most European countries would have recognised Israel fairly soon after its establishment but don't know the answer and never really considered it.
I just kind of assumed a 'Yes' vote at the UN was an implicit recognition. Thinking about it, I guess some countries voted 'No' but did later recognise the state of Israel.

Which British club lost out to AC Milan in the Semi-Final of the 62/63 European Cup, having disposed of Cologne, Sporting Lisbon and Abderlecht in the earlier rounds?

There's an old quiz question along the lines of, "name the British cities to have had two teams in EC semi-finals". Dundee was often the one people couldn't get.

Still countries that would fail to let people in if they have as much as an Israeli stamp on their passport.
Can you name them though? (I'm not sure how many there are but six or eight rings a bell.)

Not Birmingham. How did they get to compete in the European Cup?
Of course, London has three teams. When I first heard this question they had just one - Tottenham.

Was a great question. I thought of Prague when 8 known but apart from Dukla who I remember (sadly) being beat (robbed) by celtic in the semis I couldn't think of the other team. Was it Sparta? (I'm not bitter Mac )

@Snowy. It was the 12th final and the first that didn't have either Benfica or Real Madrid involved. Real played in 8, winning 6 with Benfica winning 2 from 4. They met once with Benfica winning 5-3.

In a certain film three boxers appeared , all three had fought for the World Championship . They were not extras and did not have Cameo rolls . What was the film?

Yes, I was just wondering if he was in a film with two others. I thought it might trigger someone else's memory.
'The Harder They Fall' definitely had two champs in it. Maybe some other fighters?

On The Waterfront it is . Abe Simon , Tony Galento and Tami Mauriello were three of the heavies that beat up Marlon Brando . One of the other culprits was Fred Gwynne .
