Breaking Bad is very good, but way overrated IMO. It is not the 'best TV show of the century', or indeed all time as many people claim !
There is a lot to criticize, especially last 2 seasons. |

The last 2 series of Breaking Bad they were introducing scenarios that would have been laughed at in a Bond Movie.
The one original character that didn't become a different person to make the plot more exciting was Hank, and the one thing towards the end I was really looking forward to was seeing how Hank would find out about Walter. And when it happened it was one the lamest plot developments I have ever seen ![]() |

Agree about Better Call Saul - much under-rated. So many superb US dramas, in particular. I always think they make the British ones look very primitive. 'Bodyguard', for instance, wouldn't get commissioned in the US as the plot was so threadbare. European dramas also superior. Would recommend 'Dark', 'Ozark', 'Mindhunter' and 'Tin Star' to name but 4.

Better Call Saul is ok, but the only series with a proper pace to it has been series 3. Series 1, 2 and 4 are way too slow - series 2 had scenes minutes long which basically showed Jimmy photocopying to show ho whard and industrious he was being - picked up alot in Series 3, but then they've gone back to the funereal pace of previous seasons - Breaking Bad has its faults, but it was pretty much blast from start to finish, much the better show for me. Also, Saul's character in Breaking Bad was 100x funnier than Jimmy McGill is in Better Call Saul

My test is how bad the withdrwal symptoms are when there are no more episodes left to watch. Feeling that whatever you watch next is a let down. Both of these were as bad as they get. Saul was possible worse because you're just craving for it to join up with BB and of course it never quite does.

Breaking Bad IS the greatest show ever, and even better on second viewing, I watched it when it first cme out in 2008 and had to wait a year each time for the next season, gormless binge watchers who watch the lot in a week are just like fast food eaters.
Better Call Saul can go 6 episodes with nothing literally happening, no where near as good. |

Why did Walter leave the book on the toilet ffs ?
Writers could not think of anything else ![]() |

My fav Walter bit was him empathising with the traumatised students after the plane crash by......mentioning it was way down on the fatality all time list and going into details of the 1977 Tenerife record fatality collision .

I find BCS very disappointing and rather pedantic at times. BB was far superior imo.
