Big NFL fan but they definitely go OTT with all the "salute our military overseas for protecting us" bull ****. Not just the NFL, you get it at every American sport.

Just who are they protecting the USA from? The only time the inhabitants of America were endangered was when the Europeans invaded and almost eradicated the Native Americans off the face of the Earth and stole their land and country in the process. And the only "War" of note fought on "their" soil was the one when they battled each other.

Americans are more fanatical and militarist than the North Koreans, the only difference being that the North Koreans are right to feel threatened from invaders, with the most likeliest being the good old USA.

The USA is the greatest country in the history of the world with the most intelligent creative and gifted of people in science , art , technology , music, literature, engineering , medicine any aspect of life
They are good at everything

They were the Picts , their people and culture almost totally destroyed in a ferocious and brutal way so that they all but dissapeared from the land ,destroyed by the predecessors of present day ‘Scots’

lfc thanks for your concern about the Picts. Don`t worry, we are still here. 10% of modern day Scots, including myself, are direct descendants of the Picts.

The USA have indeed produced many gifted people in science, art, technology, music, literature, engineering, medicine and other aspects of life.

One can`t argue with that.

Baseball is the best sport to gamble on imo.

To like it one has to understand the complex nature of the game but unfortunately the majority of people who give it a fleeting glance don`t have the mental capacity to understand it, so therefore hate it.

Most people want fast action and quick entertainment at the end of a working day - maybe those two sports suit more elderly people with more time?

SH - If somebody doesn`t like a certain sport, that`s fine by me, but I would bet my bottom dollar that Europeans who don`t like Baseball don`t understand the game.

It`s more cerebral than any other sport that I follow. A mental challenge between the Pitcher and the Batter. Pitchers displaying magnificent technique with a variety of pitches to catch the batter out and Batters trying to read the Pitcher`s mind on what type of pitch is about to be thrown, to have any chance of hitting it. And if the batter is right, then he has to have incredible eye to hand co-ordination to even hit the ball, flying towards him at speeds up to 104mph.

When I first started watching it I hadn`t a clue and found it extremely boring like yourself and just didn`t understand it. One night I stuck 500 quid on a team and I quickly learnt the Rules and have thoroughly enjoyed it ever since.

From a betting pointing of view it is very bad for the heart. One swing of the Bat can cost one hundreds and thousands!

As far as the Americans themselves go, Baseball is the National pastime of the country and attracts all ages, from kids to pensioners. Although they are fervent about their teams, it`s quite a big social day out as well.

Anyway that`s my last statement on it. One either loves the game or hates it, there is no in-between.

tbh I find all Sport boring unless I have a bet on it.

If I don`t have a bet on it, I don`t watch it.

Batters over time can have a good idea of what type of pitch is coming because they learn body language. That combined with insanely good eyesight means they can see this and the spin on the ball in ways that mortals can't. hand eye co-ordination doesn't come into it as such because the ball is going too fast for them to track with the eye, and was blown apart as a theory when some top hitters were humiliated by a female softball pitcher.

And the military are all over the NFL because the Pentagon pays them.

I found NFL boring at first because I didn`t understand it.

Like Baseball, I stuck a big bet on and quickly learned the Rules and I don`t miss a match now.

I understand Baseball but I find it dull as most do because of it's pace. If everyone understood Baseball you'd get a few more followers, but not many more - because it'll still be slow and to most people tedious, most don't really have the time to follow a sport like that.

Many people don't like Chess or snooker as well because it's slow, but everyone knows the rules, that's why they have attempted to speed up Snooker in recent years, I think Peter Ebdon on his own almost killed the sport.

Speed is king, partly why Football, Basketball and Tennis are very popular.
