Maybe because if thy didn't their nearest rivals would benefit, whereas if they buy homebase products and like the product they are likely to find another homebase to buy them again, others stores would already be fully stocked as well, would also cost money so shift all the items to another outlet.

"Bunnings" made a massive mistake, by trying to make it "Housebase" as opposed to "Homebase"!
A huge difference between the two, as a house is just a building, whereas a home is where people live! We have enough builders merchants, and such as "Wickes" to satisfy that! If you want light fittings, plants, pots and pans, bathroom fittings, kitchenware, garden furniture, BBQs, lawn mowers, garden tools etc you don't go to "Jewson", "Travis Perkins" or "Wickes", so "Homebase is pretty unique, I would say (well factor in "B&Q") and if it isn't doing that well I don't believe it's because of poor strategy but just due to market conditions in general! |
