Did anyone else received a mobile text stating one's account has been restricted, and please re-confirm one's identity today or one's account will be closed. The text was from this mobile number: 07521 264 587

A relative received the above message, but Paypal confirmed it was not from them.

Please beware!!

I sometimes get them and so does my wife. Neither of us has a Paypal account. I hope everyone is aware not to click on links in these messages but to delete them.

Really, someone who answers with a Nigerian accent? Ironically, my relative is presently in a bit of a dispute with one commercially; his business number is on all his vehicles.

My relative has forwarded the number and link to Paypal who is dealing with it as I type. Now and again I'd get emails in my 'spam' tray which I'd never open. And believe you me the sender could barely spell and too lazy to spell-check either - so arrogant and stupid.
Report Escapee November 4, 2018 7:42 PM GMT
The reason they mis-spell the emails is because it helps filter out the more intelligent people.

The scammer only wants to deal with stupid people,  everyone else is just a waste  of the scammers time.

Reverse psychology...maybe that was why the text was from a known mobile number. Cheers 'Escapee'.

I doubt pp will be able to do anything to stop it i123.
Same scam using every big trading companies name been ongoing for years and nowt been done.
"Your order is ready for delivery", "You've won a prize" and "Confirm details please" most common messages.

another scam is ring u up,dont want to know your pin no. or bank details just a chat.
do u go in your bank ,are they freindly etc etc they get to know your bank name.
ring back around 3 months later, then try to scam you,now they know your bank
Report impossible123 November 5, 2018 5:41 PM GMT
'akabula', had that too but only in spam tray which I binned immediately always. Another popular one was "your bank account (not even a customer) had been compromised". The mobile text was new to me and relative, and it had a link attached ie http://paypal.co.uk.p2ls7.xyz. But straight away we knew it was dodgy however, mobile number and procurement were concerns though.
