Good old fashioned Cadbury Bournville Cocoa powder with sugar to taste aint a bad alternative neither are the fruity teas, have tried Green Tea a few times and always get a nausea type reaction.

I find a hot toddy is the only civilised way to turn in after a gruelling day backing horses. Or even a lengthy session down the pub.

Simply add a few good shots of whisky to a glass of hot water, along with honey, lemon, cinnamon, and cloves.

And if you don't get the best night's sleep you've ever had, add more whisky next time.

not really a whiskey man, will be avoiding sugary drinks, gave up coffee couple of months ago, much better for it, but sick of 'normal tea', and it has caffeine, not as much as coffee but still.

I get a banging headache if I go a day without coffee, I'm on half a kg a week. I think those energy drinks have far more caffeine in em so no wonder kids are addicted if they get similar withdrawal symptoms. I must say it never stops me sleeping and I'll have em right up to bedtime.

Used to get brain fog and dizziness from energy drinks/sitting on a laptop for 12 hours+ a day much worse than chaining coffee.

Horlicks. You put heaps and heaps of teaspoons in a mug & it still tastes of nothing. Silly answer, but why not, err, just buy decaf coffee?

I watched a lot of caffeine related videos on youtube, it put me off for life, I'm amazed at how you can drink caffeing late at night and sleep like a baby giving it releases hormones that trigger the fight-or-flight response?

I have been reading about nettle tea, may try that, along with ovaltine and lemon tea.

It's mainly wheat and baley flour with skimmed milk and a bit of sugar, the taste comes from the malted barley. Decaf sounds sensible.

I can drink coffee up to bedtime and it doesn't keep me awake either.  Apparently that can be a marker for ADHD, but I don't tick any other boxes.

Hot cabbage water

It’s good for your skin, thanks to the vitamin E it contains.
Your bowels will thank you for it, as it stimulates your digestive system.
It lessens the effects of a hangover, because it’s packed with vitamin C.
Thanks to the vitamin C, it also helps keep your immune system strong, enabling you to fight off colds.

I don't drink coffee or tea after 6pm. Not only might they keep you awake but they are diuretic too so tend to wake you up in the middle if the night.
Cocoa tastes fine without sugar, I drink a cup with neither milk nor sugar at bedtime. Raw cacao is good too, the taste is not as powerful as Dutch process cocoa. There is a trace amount of caffeine in cocoa, not enough to worry about unless you are allergic to it.

Not a tea or coffee drinker, but I like hot lemon and honey sometimes. Overall just not a big fan of hot drinks.

I've been slowly decreasing monster energy drinks from 2 a day to 1 every 2 days, not just gave them up as that just means I'll end up going back to them at some point

Coffee same I've given up, and use to drink like 6 mugs of tea a day which I've halved within the past 2 weeks Happy, find I sleep better now as well, less restless and doesn't take me as long to nod off either.

High quality cocoa (not hot chocolate) with milk, wonderful I find. And it does not keep one awake at night too.

I would say no, they have a lot of caffeine in them and are highly addictive imo

If I had kids they wouldn't be drinking them, through experience they are horrible health wise imo, it increased my anxiety

I drink organic rooibos naturally caffeine free tea.  It is more commonly known as 'red bush' tea and most large supermarkets stock a variety of them.

It tastes the same as ordinary tea but I like it better as it does not make that scum you get on the top of the ordinary tea and of course no caffeine. I find it surprising that it hasn't caught on more with the public as it is so much nicer than ordinary tea.

To those advocating hot chocolate or cocoa, these contain theobromine which is similar to caffeine.

I'm partial to a cup of bovril, but always add far too much salt.
