Haven't had one for donkey's years but thought I better had this year as developed COPD.

Pretty nurse, no tea and biscuits.

Not having mine @ Asda, I want a proper nurse; certificates, stretchy belt and an upside down watch are my minimum requirements.

I have to admit The Dragon I hadn't noticed them offering the service in my local ASDA this time.  I had assumed I just hadn't noticed it and they are still offering it, but after what you've just said maybe they haven't got the vaccine.

I got asthma first as a teenager.  Mine was primarily allergy induced, mostly from animal hairs in carpets and chairs and has got much better such that I cant remember the last time I had a bad issue with it.  My wife on the other hand had never had asthma until she got a prolongued cold last year.  She had breathing difficulties for months and after a couple of hospital visits and several doctor's appointments they finally diagnosed asthma, much to my relief.  So I've grown out of it and she's grown into it.

Hi Dragon, the doc did refer me to the hospital. I've had 3-4 outpatient sessions at the 2 Bradford hospitals this year. Catscan (apt) fluid removal from lung, x rays chats etc. Supposed to be back in a week for another x ray and if fluid still there, a camera inserted to have a good look round, which does not appeal to me. Strange thing is although I'm definately more breathless I can still swim 25m in 90 secs, and do 25 lengths in 45 mins.

Kenny, you say you stopped smoking 7 months ago... has it helped the COPD?

I've just been diagnosed and they've given me Braltus to inhale. I still smoke though. Definitely not Asthma as inhaler made no difference to my test results

Told I had the lungs of an 85 year old; I asked if we could swap back Grin

During the test I had to blow the house off a little piggy; done that and said to the nurse "I guess it's pork for dinner tonight" - She was not amused

Well Aspro, when I had my breathing test 7 months ago, the pretty nurse thought that I'd done ok, but the results howed the lungs of a 112 year old, which I don't understand as I can walk 2 miles in under 40 mins, although I am more breathess. How many 112 year olds could do that.

No stopping smoking hasn't improved things (i still vape) but I would probably be worse than I am if still smoking. The latest vapes which contain nicotine are a massive improvement on the aids you could get in the past.

The top man at the hospital told me you won't improve COPD but you can make it stop getting worse by pushing yourself, ie exercise.

Haven't tried vaping but have been considering it of late; surely it can't be worse

Have kicked against the flu jab, as met so many senior citizens who said the had stopped having it,
as they were out of sorts for a month after it every year.

Caved in last year as I was there for a different reason but gave in to my doctor and had it there and then!

Punch line....I was feeling cr@p for a month after it so, once again, resisting it!

Apart from a slight bruising feeling for a week after I don't recall any other ill feelings after an annual jab. Not had one this year yet but hoping the doc will do it whilst I'm there on Monday. Will keep a check on the after effects, just in case I've not related them in the past.

I wouldn't want a chemical cocktail to be injected into my bloodstream I don't think it would do my immune system any good. Instead I like eat lots of fresh organic fruit and veg and take a vitamin d3 supplement.
I trust my immune system to fight off the flu not an authority that may not have my best interests at heart.

The only reason I had it is because I was strongly advised to in my condition. Never have before. A bout of flu could see me off.

An eminent medical expert said that not having a flu jab is like crossing the road blind. It's a very personal choice.

Never had the flu jab and never will.

Although I suppose one of these days the vaccine might match the strain of flu it's supposed to protect against.

''PHE's medical director, Prof Paul Cosford, said: "Each year there are on average around 8,000 deaths from flu but last year there were about 15,000, significantly more than we usually see."

I hear they have to blackmail NHS staff into having it.
That was the case last winter.
