They have been on the decline for a while now despite parachuting in a "fixer" recently. Has anyone been to one lately? The majority of their staff were carp ie ill-informed and non-pc literate. A purchase if comes with a full guarantee could be available...for the brave.

Tomorrow is monday, and the market will reflect its well-being, no doubt.

Just taken them 7 weeks to repair my laptop, the currys knowhow part of the business is about as inept a service as you could get, read the trustpilot reviews on them, horror stuff.....care plan is almost up anyway, so they can **** off. waste of time...

Similar here. I went to pick up a £550 Lenovo laptop ordered online in Purley Way, and an assistant went to pick it up. But he never returned. Then was approached by a floor manager who noticed my arrival about 50mins earlier, and asked if I'd been seen to. She apologised profusely, and took it up with the 'kiddie' concerned and store manager.

I do not think their staff welcome customers who bought online for click-and-collect at store.

I bought a new electric cooker from them 12 months ago, which has been fine. It was advertised about £20 cheaper at J Lewis's, and I rang up and they refunded the difference.

Great. But how about this for the biggest rip-off on the High Street:

I got a local sparky to disconnect the old one and wire up the new one for a tenner. And a quick call to Clive the Scrap Bloke got the old one taken away for free.

We install more Cooking Appliances than anyone else in the UK, they claim. If that's really the case, then how the hell can the company be struggling?

I'd used him for a few other jobs after I'd bought this house (getting rid of the burglar alarm, replacing the ancient storage heater with a new one, repairing a couple of decaying light fittings). And I'd put a bit of work his way when a neighbour bought a similar ex-OAP deathtrap. So, from his point of view, it was just a case of popping in for a few minutes on the way home from a major refit he was doing down the lane, and keeping a regular customer happy.

It's rural Zummerzet. Once you're acknowledged as sound, and part of the local economy, then there's no point in trying to rip each other off.

Recent experience:

Wanted to buy a bluetooth speaker on display in currys. Theyre locked in cabinets so had to queue at the till because no assistants around.
They didnt have it in stock. Wandered in a few days later and same thing. A week later in a different currys store, same story.

I keep hearing how tough the high street environment is, would probably be easier for some if they were actually prepared to sell their goods.

A female assistant once asked if I'd like Norton Antivirus Software with my new laptop. I said "no thanks, Norton comes with a lot of baggage". And she replied, "I knew nothing about computer...I'd told to ask."

My experience with currys/pc world.

I went to buy a TV, wandered round and narrowed it down to 3 possibilities.

I had decided to by one, and tried to attract some attention to spend my £500.
No joy, waited for 15 minutes trying to spend my money, still no joy.

So I had the bright idea of having a cigarette, thinking someone is bound to come over and tell me I can't smoke in the
shop..... lol no.

Smoked the cigarette, and decided I'd had enough and went to richer sound and bought one there instead.

No wonder they are in trouble if they are letting £500 sales walk away.


All these big shops are blaming the internet and Brexit and aunt molly's dog for their woes.
I suspect that only employing minimum wage monkeys who understandably don't give a banana about their job or products is also
a prime factor in high street sales falling off a cliff.
