Don't know about earthquakes but I can't see how it wouldn't , ultimately, cause subsidence, however many feet below the surface that they do that stuff. It must surely create some level of movement down there. Mustn't it?

Heard that they are planning to dump the Nuclear waste that they can't find space for in the wells left from the fracking which is another reason it'll keep going imo.

I believe the gases are there to provide a cushion in the gaps of the earth/soil below the surface. If dislodged or extracted there would be a void possibly resulting in a collapse of the earth/soil underneath, and some areas/structures are more susceptible. This is not rocket science but merely commonsense and understanding of Newton's 1st law of motion, I believe (it's been a long while since school).
