I like to go to any takeaway shop and order direct (not the most convenient i know) some don't bother cleaning the windows i imagine what the kitchen and the chefs hygiene standards are as i walk past.

change out of £8 for medium size fish and chips. ![]() |

yeh a large haddock supper at my locl chipper is about £8.50 now

I would never use amazon, uber or just eat. All about tax avoidance and poor wages. A gig economy where people with outgoings are competing with people who are sharing a room with 7.
Rather ring up my trusted take away and pay what is acceptable for me, buy from john lewis, get excellent service and might pay 5% more, as for uber, i would only enter an approved taxi who may or not overcharge me. Usually i plan my night out that does not involve taxis. |

Food hygiene is dreadful in many third world countries. Lots of our takeaways are run and staffed by people from third world countries. QED.

Cost me a tenner for a burger in Leeds last night, and the cheeky b@stards wanted between 3 and 7 quid for various types of chips. I had the squits this morning.

Never use Just Eat btw. Read a recent article on them and it is only a matter of time before people start getting ill. Only use local known shops for take-aways
|
|
By:
Find it funny that people who are health conscious eat takeaways in the first place.
|
|
By:
Good point Baron; I'll avoid the first place in future and go to the next shop

I think you are missing the point about what just eat is?
It is AFAIK an umbrella to allow takeaways to join up and use their ordering and delivery infrastructure via a common website, the takeways are still all totally separate entities who are signed up. So if you have a favourite takeaway you can order over JE, the order comes through at their end, then you go and pick it up or it gets delivered to you. They are nothing to do with the food. They are like ebay. You wouldn't say "ebay is sh1t because some sellers are dodgy". Well the BBC might... Their business model makes total sense. Fish shop and takeaway owners don't want to all create websites and sign up for online mercant accounts and hire a delivery boy. If they hadn't done it someone else would, it's an obvious thing to do. If you know the takeaway you want to use you can use them anyway, it won't turn your food sh1t. Disclaimer: I've never used justeat and if I get a takeway I just go to it, I don't even phone first, but this seems more hysteria. And listeria :P |

Is there still a hygiene stigma for some with eating Indian food?
Last Indian meal I had was superb checked rating prior as I do for everywhere top value per food amount. |

You'll see just eat signs out side of your many local takeaways/restaurants, keep an eye out. They get some windows software or till or something inside linked into the system and orders pop out.
The local takeaway or restaurants I tend to use (if I use one which is rarely) are signed up, I've seen the guy checking the thing when I've been waiting on an order. But if you order that way you are giving JE a chunk of commission which seems pointless, I'd rather give the money to the people who are doing the bl00dy work. As I say never used it. I'm not bed bound, I don't pay delivery charges either :P I know someone who orders carry outs, delivered, from just down the road from him and I'm thinking "you've got legs haven't you"? (And he complains about being skint!). I just go in, order, ask how long it'll be and then go do something like a bit of shopping in a nearby supermarket then come back, or have something to read. |

Wipe your feet as you come out.

I've never used 'Just Eat' either, I hardly ever eat take away food anyway apart from a pizza every now and then. A local ish pub 'The Rosendale' do half price pizzas in a wood fired oven when you take them away and they are very good and decent value for money.

I've been looking up info on 'pink burgers' which I had the other night and are increasingly popular. Not good reading
. |
|
By:
Just Eat Odd name. Sounds like an order.
"I don't like Chicken Chow Mein" "Shut Up. Just Eat" |
|
By:
Saddo - "Pink" burgers are fine as long as you are sure of the source and quality of the meat. Why do you think steak tartare is still sold, popular and safe. We been eating my butcher's beef burgers rare/pink for over fifteen years.
|
|
By:
If all takeaways had to put a sticker on the bag of each delivery, showing their food hygeine rating, it would make a lot of them improve.
|
|
By:
Blackbarn, I understand what you say. A piece of germ free beef ground before cooking/serving and handled with absolute care will be no danger. How are we to know if this is done in a burger restaurant? If one patty gets germs in the middle you will eat those germs if it is pink. What if the patty maker has poor toilet hygiene? It's like russian roulette unless you do your own.
|
|
By:
*I order steaks medium rare, never been ill. Any germs are on the outside and are seared off.
