From the BBC news site.

Radical preacher Anjem Choudary has had his assets frozen, days before he is due to leave prison.
The 51-year-old, who was jailed for five-and-a-half years for inviting support for the Islamic State group, is expected to be released on Friday.

The BBC understands police have been preparing a list of up to 20 measures to control the east London preacher.
The government's asset freezing team confirmed Choudary had been listed on a global record of known terrorists.

Former Met terror chief Richard Walton told BBC Newsnight that Choudary was a "hardened dangerous terrorist" and someone who has had a "huge influence on Islamist extremism in this country".
The international list, overseen by the United Nations Security Council, is designed to prevent targets spending money on their causes.
In the entry, Choudary, who headed the banned al-Muhajiroun network, is described as a resident of Frankland Prison in County Durham and also known by the alias, Abu Luqman.

It states that Choudary "pledged allegiance to Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)".

Sadly GRANTCKING the luvee's won't allow it. I see two ISIS fighters could be heading to the US to face justice, hopefully doing the 40 thousand volt jig. While a judge here is berating Savid Javid for not getting the US won't execute them as we as a country oppose the death penalty. As we have stripped them of their citizenship they no longer our responsibility. Fxxk em.

It's disgusting, people like that should be held somewhere like Guantanamo Bay indefinitely.

Is it not time we stopped pandering to the bleeding hearts and reopened Byker Grove?

he should not, I think newsnight described him as 'one the most notorious Islamic extremists in the country'. No sensible country would tolerate such people freely walking their streets.

What kind of country allows a person to wander its streets freely who wants and promotes acts of terrorism against it?

then gives him free money to live here!

Think the justice system needs a serious re think.

and what kind of people continue to make allowances for this so called "peaceful" ideology/religion and seemingly kowtow to their every wish.......and what kind of people continue to follow this particular ideology/religion once they are at the stage where they are able to think logically for themselves?.....

There are those in name only, the moderates, and then the strict believers/adherers......but when/if the time is right,......they will join as one.....and the blame will lie firmly at the door of successive government's policies over the last few decades or so :(

.and what kind of people continue to follow this particular ideology/religion once they are at the stage where they are able to think logically for themselves?.....

The kind of people that are the subject of indoctrination from their moment of birth til the drawing of their last breath . Brainwashing is literally that , programming the brain NOT to think logically .... EVER !

The vast majority of people fortunate to be born into a 'normal' family structure within a civilised society are taught decency and respect from a very early age . It could be argued that this is a form of 'brainwashing' in as much as it conditions the individual to behave with respect , tolerance and consideration towards others . This , arguably more positive form of brainwashing , extends to those whose ideology differs greatly from their own and therein lies the problem . We have now developed a society that insists on only seeking out the good in others , even where no 'good' exists .

'Taxpayers will be hit with a £2million-a-year bill to protect notorious hate preacher Anjem Choudary.'

Only this country would pay to keep safe someone who wants to destroy it. This is sick.

He will be placed in a probation hostel for six months, the BBC understands. The conditions he must obey include:

A ban from preaching at or attending certain mosques
He will only be allowed to associate with people who have been approved by the authorities
He will be allowed one phone and is banned from using an internet-enabled device without permission
Use of the internet will be supervised
He cannot travel outside Greater London's M25
He will not be able to leave the UK without permission.

Why are these 'certain mosques' allowed to even operate if they are deemed the type he cannot attend?

If this was 1942 and he'd been found guilty of inciting support for the Nazis he wouldn't have been out after 2 years.  He'd have been hanged.  Too right, too.

I'm glad I wasn't alone in thinking this , although wasn't sure if thinking what I thought would be considered an offence in the current climate Blush
