It's coming to the West End with Paul Whitehouse playing Grandad.
Like most of us on here we no doubt watched the t.v. series back in the day but turning it into a musical is really not a show I'd ever go and see personally. Apart from Raquel doing a stint as a nightclub singer I don't recall anyone singing along to the radio in the tv series! It's not for me but maybe it will appeal to some of you.

Question is, will they butcher the dialogue in keeping with the BBC re-write/edit/censor to keep the PC mob happy ?

Surely the 'fools' bit of the title should be removed as its referring to people of low intelligence and someone may be offended on their behalf.
Report moisok October 9, 2018 3:31 PM BST
love god you uncaring cruel person

WOT ABOUT THE HORSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am very angryAngry

Kenny will be on later to finish you off!!!
Report lovegod October 9, 2018 3:32 PM BST
Yes sorry should be removed as its exploits animals.
Report moisok October 9, 2018 3:34 PM BST
so we are left with  'only' - that looks better
Report moisok October 9, 2018 3:36 PM BST
that implies loneliness - that's not nice - - people like us sat in garrets  - with no friends - the tile would be tantamout to bullying at least - a cyber crime

so we have to cross that off as well
Report moisok October 9, 2018 3:37 PM BST
my smelling is wursoning tile(title)

Well nobody thus far have said they would actually pay and go and see it which I'm not too surprised about, I wouldn't go if it were free let alone part with my hard earned.Plain

Regardless of whether it's any good or not, it's in London - who wants to go there? A friend of mine was extolling how good the Tina Turner musical is, I said where is it on, she said, The Strand. I said no thanks.

what about Dolly Partons 9 to 5 - featuring Louise Rednapp, SlippyBlue, London 2019

going to that?
Report McCoy Carp October 9, 2018 4:37 PM BST
The closest I'll be getting to London is to get on a plane @ Gatwick for my hols & I try & avoid that if possible but sometimes there's no other option Sad

No most definitely not Delta, not if there were a free bar at the interval! I don't really like musicals as a rule, I did see Miss Saigon years ago and thought that was pretty good but that one aside nothing else has been memorable to be honest.

McCoy, I'm a Londoner and even I don't like going to places like Soho, Covent Garden etc, it's my idea of hell! Last Saturday lunchtime I was in Borough Market and it was total chaos with all the football fans from Wolves, Aston Villa and Millwall all congregating in the pubs around London Bridge, I couldn't wait to get out of the area Shocked

Not sure we want your sort round here anyway.

Why would anyone want to avoide the strand or Covent Garden, it's not exactly the Bronx. Full of educated middle class types or tourists mooching around attending theatre shows and whatnot, I could understand if it were in Moss side or wherever. But there very unresidential areas. You are not going to die. And people wonder why they call this the tin foil hat forum lol.

a man was stabbed in Covent Garden not long ago , middle of the afternoon
Report lfc1971 October 9, 2018 8:08 PM BST
I think also Isis threatened to attack it

Virtually lived in Covent Garden once; loved the place but youth is no longer on my side. As for the theatre, the West End is a bit hit and miss for me. Enjoyed Cats, Phantom, Time, The Graduate and We Will Rock You, but a few were a let down, especially Tommy... thought that was one of the worst I'd ever seen up there.
Report Aspro October 9, 2018 8:14 PM BST
Also saw the King & I with Elaine Paige Love but had front row seats (last minute booking). Take a tip, NEVER BOOK FRONT ROW SEATS!

Pick pockets, bouncers everywhere, druggies, people just looking for victims, over priced food and drink and so on. I've done the clubbing scene when I was much younger, quite happy in my South East London domain and I don't miss all the cr@p involved with being in a pretentious environment like Wardour Street or St. Martins Lane for example. Count me out.

Have only ever been to see two in London , momma Mia and another one can’t remember what it was called
Report SlippyBlue October 9, 2018 8:25 PM BST
I did see Mamma Mia as well lfc, at the 15 minute interval I went to the bar and didn't come back for the second half, it was way beyond dire.
Report lfc1971 October 9, 2018 8:28 PM BST
: ) yes I went to the bar as well at the interval but I had to come back

I’m too kindhearted so i knew I had to go

makes you wonder how some people get through life, worrying about everything, try living in some of these ghetto favela's or Compton or many 3rd world places.

Every city has those types of problems, thankfully not everyone is so scared otherwise our tourism industry would collapse. Pick pocketers are more rife in oxford street and on the tube.

Food is overpriced but so are airports and motorway stop offs.
Report lfc1971 October 9, 2018 8:41 PM BST
Even I might cry at the thought of my friend at mamma Mia on her own , on her birthday

Used to love The Marquee in Wardour Street.
Report SlippyBlue October 9, 2018 8:46 PM BST
Not a question of being scared, it's just that I have the choice not to be in places that I don't want to be in, huge difference. I'm happy at Plumpton or Fontwell on a wet and windy Monday, I don't want to be in Covent Garden an a Saturday afternoon, it's just not my thing.

I did my degree at Kings College in the Strand, early 80's and loved every minute of it. I saw Tesla, Twisted Sister and Y&T at the Marquee and Metallica just over the road from Kings at the Lyceum when the touts couldn't give the tickets away - it still amazes me to this day how they got so big - and The Ramones, a concert so packed we had to watch it from the stairs.

Now London is overcrowded, overpriced and everytime I go there I cannot wait to get out of the place. Last time a year ago, to see a friend in Charing Cross hospital, we had the hassle of getting in & out of London and finding a place to park. We eventually park in Wimbledon (I think) & have a pint before catching the tube. Just a normal pub, I order 2 pints of lager, give the guy a tenner & he says, sorry sir, that's not enough. You might be happy to pay over inflated prices but I'm not. And that wasn't even in central London or the West End! I hate to think what prices are like there......
Report Johnny_Mustang October 10, 2018 2:59 PM BST
I was only teasing. Hugely embarrassed to admit this but also saw Twisted Sister at the Marquee and even saw them at Donnington or Reading (can't remember which).....
Report McCoy Carp October 10, 2018 3:05 PM BST
They were bloody good, certainly put on a show Happy
Report Johnny_Mustang October 10, 2018 3:23 PM BST
Yep, agree and probably way ahead of their time. I do remember hating them when they first appeared but loved them towards the end.
Report SlippyBlue October 10, 2018 3:33 PM BST

I'm jealous of that McCoy, I would have loved to have seen The Ramones but just never got around to seeing them.
