The occasionally kooky dialogue grips my sh1t more than somewhat.
Report Hanx October 2, 2018 12:15 PM BST
....and of course, the BBC box-ticking re cast and writer

what a weird post.

Surely anyone who saw Fleabag would recognise Waller-Bridge as one of the finest tv writers around. Her gender has nothing to do with it.

As for the cast, should Villanelle (a female, Russian orphan in the books) be played by David Jason or some other older, white dude?
Report The Leopard October 2, 2018 1:17 PM BST
Yes, very good series, watched Ep. 7 last night.

Jodie Comer as Villanelle is great and some very convincing acting from Sandra Oh as Eve.

Hyper-violence in Ep. 1 (syringe in eye) was bit un-necessary I thought.

The high level of violence perpetrated by the female assassin is key to the whole series. The black humour and the sometimes fragility of the character lead you into a false sense of security, until she ' pounces' and kills again with sheer delight and utter coldness.
All excellently  interwoven by brilliant script, acting and direction.
Superb.

I only managed about half an hour of this I found the main characters irritating and the plot ridiculous.

Well since I neither saw Fleabag or read the book I can't really comment.

Happy to concede the points you made (you've clearly has done both), however I'd guess and say I was in the majority re the rest of audience, who would be coming to this not having seen Fleabag and certainly not having read the book, so my observations were given from that perspective.

I enjoyed it as much as Bodyguard. Nice TV, we have a*rse holes running the World. Nice to see how a proper psycho operates!

Absolutely loving Killing Eve. Most gripping thing I've  watched since Breaking Bad. Excellent writing, acting and filming.

Fantastic sound track too.

I've only watched the first three episodes. I'm not binge watching it, I'm going to make it last.

I have a huge girl crush on Sandra Oh Love Blush

I've watched four episodes, and agree with plat. Not really comparable with Bodyguard, this is different league. It's all subjective at the end of the day.
Report johnnyrant October 3, 2018 6:24 PM BST
It's as far fetched as The Bodyguard but has a cult-ish, arthouse feel which makes it more appealing. The nightclub scene though… absurd. Not as good as it's being hyped up to be but the Beeb doing a very good job of hyping its own dramas in recent months. Actually watched this much earlier this year. It was originally shown on BBC America. Don't start me on The Bodyguard. Absolutely terrible with some truly awful dialogue but it succeeded by being broad in its appeal.

what's this bodyguard thing ?  Isn't that an old Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston movie ?
Report Whisperingdeath October 3, 2018 6:31 PM BST
Its TV,

Not the history of the Plantagenets. Truth is stranger than fiction at times and much more interesting but sometimes we want to be away with the fairies. This was good TV for me. I liked the portrayal of the psychopath and also the geeks on display.

Why is this being compared to Bodygurd? Very stylised & stylish & throughly enjoyable mad spy
thriller. It was utterly daft but utterly brilliant.

I hope we have real agents who can actually scale a five bar gate though Laugh

yes very enjoyable bit daft in places but superb acting and well thought out plot and script. series 2 on its weay for sure well worth watching if you havent
Report CLYDEBANK29 October 9, 2018 1:47 PM BST
It was a fun easy watch, but I thought the plot was weak and it was a bit daft myself.

Of the three series I'm watching/have just watched, The Handmaid's Tale and The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair being the others, it is the least compelling for my tastes.
Report CLYDEBANK29 October 9, 2018 1:52 PM BST
Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia in the Handmaid's Tale is brilliant
