I was rather dismayed to note that AD and BC were no longer used to denote a given year. BCE and CE are now preferred by the British Broadcasting Corporation it seems. :(
Much as the BBC can be blamed for so many of our problems (especially on here), just about everywhere uses the ridiculous BCE and CE now.
Yet another change we didn't need. I blame all this righteous PC carp on the out of touch students/graduates of the 90's who have now risen to the top of journalism, the media and big companies, all of whom think the biggest crime we can commit is to offend someone. So they get offended first, on other people's behalves.
Thing is, other people aren't generally all that bothered. It's ruining society.
Best example I can think of, and this was from a big bank I briefly worked at a few yeas ago: "No christmas cards to be sent to colleagues, they may only say, Season's Greetings".
No-one AT ALL of any faith is offended by a Christmas card, in fact we often get them from the local Indian or Chinese restaurant! I tried reasoning with the HR department, who had issued the dictum. Complete waste of time.
