I had to look that word up Slippy, a new one for me.Is that the Alleyns Head? Must pop along sometime.
No mate it was a pub in Crystal Palace that has just been taken over and refurbished and I popped in for a quick pint and a bit of lunch and a look around. They have done a nice job on it but it's just another typical South London gastropub that is relatively unremarkable, they have a live band on Saturdays I think but the leggy blonde barmaid aside it's not somewhere I would hurry back to. Of the pubs that I like and frequent the most are The Crown And Greyhound and The Rosendale who do a very decent Sunday roast. The food in The Alleyne's Head is absolutely appalling, I hardly ever go in there anymore except to meet a few fellow Palace supporters every now and then.
The is the pub in Crystal Palace, The Faber Fox. https://thefaberfox.co.uk/
As regards to the word "peng" I only learned of it recently as my mates son has started secondary school and she told me he has already got plenty of attention from girls who describe him as peng apparently. God only knows where they got that word from because I have no idea!
