If your doctor prescribes Lansoprazole or Omeprazole be aware, it can give you the sh*ts real bad! Ranitidine, although not as good, is a lot easier on the other end.

Talking about the cramps that are high up in the stomach and rising, have 2 relatives that suffer from IBS and it is all down to pastry or cutting it out.

I have every sympathy for your condition A. Have you tried sleeping sitting up, the Tudors did it all the time.

No, don't think I could blackbarn. After my heart-attack I was prescribed aspirin, which was the cause of the reflux problem; they screwed up my stomach, as confirmed via an endoscopy. Off them now but the damage is done. Lansoprazole and Omeprazole worked well but they caused severe bowel issues (for me). Ranitidine has eased that and I can't say I really suffer at all these days... thankfully.

The good thing with Ranitidine is if you are having a particularly bad day you can still take Gaviscon (although I rarely need this). With the other two you can't

I had the worst, and most worrying being woken up, and cannot breathe this early morning...
Honestly thought I wasn't going to recover....
Every time this has happened, I tell myself to try breathing through my nose, instead of gasping through my closed throat!
I thought the burning would never end but, yes, milk is the thing, or yoghurt.
