Does anyone pay £500 for a vacuum cleaner?

Indeed; but you still need to supply them with the appliance.

If I was convinced that a vacuum cleaner would do a significantly better job and last longer than a cheaper model, then I would be prepared to pay a premium.  But not £500.

not necessarily, the cleaner i used to have bought her own vacuum cleaner although no doubt you would have to supply one for some cleaners.
I know what you mean paying £500 for a vacuum cleaner seems rediculous to me.

I no its only tv but on that  live well for less show last week,a mid range vacuum 150 quid came out on top of an expensive top of the range example, so its obviously worth looking around read reviews etc.etc

Buy an expensive one. It would be embarrassing turning up at A&E with your knob stuck in a cheap vacuum.

The prices will come down in time as they always do, atm their making hay whilst the sunshines, laptops and PC desktops in the late 90's cost thousands, now you could purchase much more powerful ones for 300 pounds, and if you have one of those old computers you probably couldn't give it away just like a CRT TV that you used to break the bank for. Bought my first phone for £330 quid in 2002 which are now commonly referred to as 'dumb phones', can buy a similar one in Argos today for 20 quid. Dyson are selling a robot vacuum that was over 1k on release last year, now selling for £800, with improved robotics and Artificial intelligence over time, it will reach a point in the future where hovering will be something that those people in the dark ages used to do, as the future vacuum bots will do it all for you. You'll probably be kicking it to get out of your way.

Try that and you'd be dyson with death.

I'm guessing that the people who will pay £500 for a fan, will have no problem with paying £500 for a vacuum cleaner!

not only are electronics becoming more expensive they break down , need to be replaced whatever very frequently , factor that into the equation
when you replace the new one will be more expensive I can assure you

And your new laptop may well have less , not more memory , for example
pound for pound compared to the old , more expensive !

plenty do but for under a ton you can buy the most efficent hoover i have ever used ,it may not look as glam as the dyson but belive me you wont beat a henry , put it this way its what builders use  and pub/ office  cleaners
does what it says on the tin and will last you 10 -20 years for housholds cleaning . true its got that muggy face on it but its the bollax tbh .

the same machine but without the face.Also about 20 - 30 pound cheaper

We have had a henry for years they are very good, and as mentioned above its what builders use and pub/ office cleaners. We are now buying a new one, missus has just ordered a Miele Complete C3 Cat and Dog Powerline, £239. Only reason we didn't go for another henry was the pets, (a dog, persian cat, and a house rabbit), we think this might be a better one with the pet hair. And I wouldn't pay much more than this for a vacuum cleaner.

my missus has 3 dogs ****-tzus  and if i need to clean up dog hairs i take the pipes off of the henry/neumatic and use the nozzle ,powerfull as fook and it makes short work of them , my henry cost a £10 about 15 years ago at a car boot ,i initialy bought it for my holiday home but it was so good that i got shot of the dyson and used the henry for indoors ,you can pick up a brand new neumatic for around £90 with all the tools and it will last for years  ,those brittle plastic  dysons are shot after about 2 years !

When buying a new hoover you should bear in mind that the power of the motor and therefore the suction has been capped by the eu. difficult to compare old with new.

We have a SEBO automatic X1 upright vacuum cleaner which was bought over 20 years ago and is still in use every day. It is very quiet compared with today's cyclonic models, solid and efficient and has automatic height adjustment for different surfaces. The only thing I've had to replace apart from filters and dust-bags is the on/off rocker switch. I would buy the same again.

wonder how much that new dyson hairdryer is ? they dont show the price on the advert on the tv ,always a sign that its gonna cost the earth .

id take all the really old pcs if people giving them away, the old chips go for a few ££££££££

Tell Dell you can get a different type of head for the Henry + other range of numatics.

It works by routing a bit of the air into a little turbine that spins a brush to pick hairs etc u.

Paid over £300 For a Sebo, can't say it's any better than any other vacuum we've had only bought it because it had bags. Can't stand bagless ones

Being asthmatic, I like the disposable bags too, Dan and the fact they have a plug to seal them so you don't have to breathe in fine dust when disposing of them. I also like the three stages of filtration before the air is exhausted from the machine.

A local man got exposed for porking hid vaccum cleaner.

After our third Dyson packed up, Mr Makybe insisted we had a Henry vacuum cleaner. We bought the Henry Xtra Numatic. I'm not very happy with it. I was always emptying my Dyson but Henry rarely needs emptying. It's nowhere near as good as my Dyson.

I would like a G-Tec Air Ram, or whatever it's called, but it doesn't seem to have any attachments.

I wish Dyson would start making their earliest models again they were the best, I think.

Dysons just don't seem to last long.
