Has anybody else come across this? Apparently it’s a new law that the people who rent villas to you now have to register all people staying (over the age of 16) with the police. This registration is supposed to be done before they hand over the keys.

I thought it was b0llox when I first heard it but a quick bit of googling and it seems to be true.

I spoke to a friend who rented a place earlier this year and they didn’t have to do it? Weird.

Fairly sure in Italy they have to register you if you stay in a hotel, if you go there watch for them asking for your passport and heading off to photocopy it.

You have to give your passport details on arrival. Currently in Ventorros de san jose.

Dont let them keep your passport. Make your own copies if you can.
