I remember having the financial pages on teletext (Laugh how old fashioned does that sound!Laugh).

The FTSE was up quite a bit first thing - I looked around and it was suddenly showing a huge loss. I thought it was just a glitch but then saw the headlines about a plane hitting one of the towers.

The whole thing seemed a bit surreal and it felt more like watching a film than reality.

I was in my van and listened to the events unfolding and fortunately was able to go home.

I watched the live news as events unfolded and remember saying to my wife, 'This will change the world'.

Not sure I was correct. Confused

Pricing up goalscorers for the weekend coupon. Luckily had got quite a bit done as we just downed tools and stood around the tv all afternoon. Utterly surreal, like watching a Hollywood movie.

Trying to make money on Betfair listening to the radio switched the tv on and watched it all unfold.

Surreal, like a Hollywood film, one of those rare days when you know the world has changed.

School was weird that day if I'm remembering it correctly, because the teachers were running round trying to get updates etc, us kids didn't really know what had happened so we just rioted all day Laugh, I can remember because we all decided to get involved in fights (no teachers in the class most of the day) it was quite a mad day really.

If only we knew what they'd use it for though Cry

It did change society as my dad says, it was very relaxed before that event, banks didn't have a 12inch thick window between the customer and staff according my dad

Had been in Manhattan that weekend and flew home to London on September 10th on a night flight. Went to bed as soon as I got home and woke up mid-afternoon - couldn't believe what I was seeing. Was on the Staten Island ferry only a couple of nights previously, which used to stop right beneath the twin towers, and was an unbelievably great spectacle.

What would happen if a similar attack happened today under this administration?

Like Johnny, above, I was also in New York a few weeks before 911. On arrival we were held up in the skies above JFK, circling around for about half an hour. The talk in the airport afterwards claimed threats had been made to hijack multiple aircraft and fly them into the city's skyscrapers. The story was even mentioned on the nightly news, somehow linking it to a cell connected to the Columbine school shootings.

To the best of my knowledge this incident was never mentioned again. It has therefore always disturbed me whenever reports state that American intelligence had no prior warning that such an atrocity might be planned.

Its amazing how they shut down all previous information. Bob Cooper did a broadcast (on checking him out) weeks before it happened claiming CNN had interviewed Bin Laden in his cave, https://youtu.be/KMlE6aiDFfY

That was June 28th according to the video

He also predicted a Donald Trump style presidency CrazyCrazy

Amazing really

The anthrax attacks a week after 911 is probably the best example of that particular kind of artifice, SS. Very quickly the intelligence agencies and news media laid the blame at Iraq's door, much of the whole 'weapons of mass destruction' fallacy was predicated on this event in fact. When the truth emerged that the poison could only have originated from a CIA laboratory in Maryland, a single mad scientist was held to be culpable. A quite remarkable conlusion in itself given the obvious levels of security present at such establishments. As so often seems to be the case in suspicious events of this nature, the fellow killed himself prior to trial.

Such was the terrible repercussions of these murders one would imagine the fact that the FBI and CIA (aided and abetted by mainstream media) got it so wrong would never be forgotten. And yet, as you say, somehow it quietly gets filed away never to be mentioned again. By any measure the Washington DC anthrax attacks of 2001 should have massive ramifications over how much trust we place in our intelligence agencies but most folks I speak to today barely remember them, if at all. Time will tell if the recent events in Salisbury take a similar turn.

The most astonishing thing of all is that 17 years later, America's Snowflake Generation (and their political/media cheerleaders) would surely be cheering the attackers to the rafters if a second 9/11 took place today, purely because it would be seen as a strike against Trump's America.

originally we were told we need to fight muslims and islamic terror, yet 17 years on a Muslim is the mayor of London, and the PM could have Savid Javid at the helm who is a muslim CrazyLaugh

And yet the BBC wont mention this in a billion years, even though they peddled the war on terror to get us into Iraq/Afghanistan

Forget Trump, Cooper predicted someone like him would get himself into power on the back of this "war on terror", and no he wasn't a fan of the idea.

I was too young to realize what was happening but remember the day quite clearly, with the repeated mention of the word 'Islamic terrorism'. I was disappointed to find out that they killed the mastermind and then dumped his body into the sea. Would have loved some insight into how he managed so much sitting in Afghanistan.

Terrorists have often been nice enough to leave their ID behind so that no innocents are blamed for the attack. Remember Nice? The guy left his ID in the truck. Berlin truck driver had the decency to do the same. If I remember correctly, the 7/7 bombers left their ID as well? I maybe wrong on that one though. And who can forget the Charlie hebdo guys, setting off on the mission with their passports with them.

People will buy anything you tell them.
