Learnt today that the radiation never stops working.  Weird.

I guess that what "half-life" means when they talk about uranium and other such like?

What you talkin' about willis? Half life is pretty basic science, did you not cover that in High School physics?

Nope.  Never studied that at skool.

Are you saying the after effects of radiotherapy treatment don't last at least until one dies?

Not at all. "are you saying ..". Who are you, Cathy Newman? Laugh

The SOURCE of the radioactivity has a predictable half life that will reduce its strength by half every time that period elapses. The thing exposed to it will receive a direct effect at the time but won't (normally) become radioactive itself. Certainly won't happen to humans undergoing medical treatment. The effects of the treatment AFTER it are due to biology, nothing to do with half life.

Laugh My apologies, JC.  I didn't mean it like that!  Cathy Newman? AngryGrin

Aye, half-life is self-explanatory but I wasn't aware of the biological angle.  Explains a lot.  Thank you Happy
