interview in times saying Brexit, price of steak and rise in minimum wage were the reasons his eateries are struggling, and shock horror he put 12.5 million of his own money in to try and resurrect the business doesn't say who,s money he thought should be used, LaughLaughLaugh,

in short if a democratic vote was ignored, minimum wage laws ignored and Jamie could buy steak for 2 quid and sell if for 30 quid he might make the business work , unfortunately his places will still sell overpriced shoite food in noisey surroundings served by surly snowflakes, LaughLaugh

I heard a story about how he was in one of his restaurants one evening and sat down and chatted to a table for a while, when they got their bill they had been charged £50 for the pleasure! it was a separate item on the bill

Really? I find that very hard to believe personally.

I do know when I've been in one, paying for their overpriced small disappointing food, we chipped in at the end with a fairly big tip as the staff had at least been nice, and then as we were leaving noticed we'd already payed a fairly big tip as it was included in the bill, so watch for that.

These days it is standard for a service charge to be included in the bill. In theory it is voluntary.

I think it`s taking the term "cooking the books" a step too far!

I lunched last week at a michelin 3* restaurant in the Dorchester and when given the bill (and at the same time a pen) noticed there was a box at the bottom marked 'gratuity'.I was just about to write in a figure when noticed that 12.5% service was already included in the bill total. Left a nasty taste in the mouth.

Shows really how little he had to do with the Brand that bore his name if, as reported, he didn't know until they were two days away from bankruptcy. Punters paying through the nose for canteen food need their heads examined.

That's appallingly bad form posy, in a similar vein I and a few mates were in the beer garden of a pub near me that we all like as it's dog friendly and we can bring our Muttleys. We had a few pints, wine and some starters which was all fine and dandy. When I got the bill they had put a 12.5% service charge on top on everything. I went up to the manager and said how has he got the front to put a 12.5% surcharge on bringing 4 pints to our bench (a pint is £5.25 btw) , a total of about 30 yards from the bar? He said ruefully, and I totally believe him, that he has been instructed to do so and the gratuity doesn't even go to the staff, the brewery keeps it. Hideous sharp practice. He comped me 2 of the starters as a way of apologising and that was fair play to him for doing that for us.

trilby did you watch "rock of ages" last night? :)
Bit of a crap plot rom com musical comedy with Tom Cruise as a rock star (!) but the soundtrack was mostly 80s mid to soft rock.
Was amusing enough to have on in the background (and the love interest looked hot as ----) in a short skirt and 80s rock boots! Love

No, I missed it, JC.  Can't stand Cruise anyway Laugh  Does he actually sing or merely mime to the originals?

Some decent tracks, all right https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_of_Ages_(2012_film)#Soundtrack

How abot Zeta_Jones?  Does she belt anything out?
