Risible stuff, every job in anti terrorism-including bomb disposal seems to be done by a woman these days, not a single line spoken by a man in uniform dear me. They try too hard, I'm out.

Why is everything always so dark in these dramas quite difficult to watch.

worth a second look tomorrow night.

Yes it could be quiet good I think, but in the opening scenes to have a troubled veteran arguing with a coloured woman in charge of the police , while being in the sights of a female sniper was all a bit much for me,then to have a screaming match while the terrorist had a finger on the detonator was ridiculous. All this in the opening few minutes.

I watched this film in a cinema in Nassua, Bahams. They don't watch films there like we do in the UK.
They talk at normal chat levels throughout the screening, get up & go see friends & when Kevin Costener
saves Whitney they were cheering and dancing up & down the Isles like their team won a trophy. Crazy mad
but quite a fun experience.
C'mon white boy shoot that mother******  sticks in my memory

@northanlite -- not the film, the new BBC 1 series starring Keeley Hawes and written by Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio. A police protection officer, emotionally and physically harmed is assigned to look after the hardline Home Secretary (apparently based on Amber Rudd). Episode 1 Sunday. Watch it on iplayer before episode 2 bank holiday Monday.

One for the BAFTA awards, imo.

LOL. Now I see where the confusion arose. Channel 5 showed the film The Bodyguard last night as well.

OopsBlush. Reading the rest of the thread would have helped Crazy
I do think there is something kinda appealing about Keeley Hawes tho so might
give it a watch

Is Jed Mercurio a rampant feminist or just badly casting these dramas for the benefit of the beeb?

There are women snipers employed by the police force and army so why are you gammon faced idiots upset to see a woman playing a fictional character?

Imagine how sad and pathetic your life must be that you get upset about such a trivial matter.

There’s a big, wide world out there. I suggest a few of you bitter fools get out and explore it. Life is short. Stop worrying about females on TV and concentrate on what matters in life.
Report saddo August 27, 2018 10:45 AM BST
It's a realism drama. If the first scene is absolutely unrealistic I assume the rest of it will be. The point is, why risk spoiling your art with preposterous virtue signalling.
Report northanlite August 27, 2018 10:46 AM BST
I'm definitely going to have to watch it now Mischief
Report Mr Eboue August 27, 2018 10:50 AM BST
How is it unrealistic?!

There are women snipers!

It would have been unrealistic if the sniper was a gorilla.
Report saddo August 27, 2018 10:55 AM BST
If you enjoy positive discrimination based drama good luck to you Mr E. I don't like paying a license fee to be preached at.
Report Mr Eboue August 27, 2018 10:58 AM BST
Preached at?!

Jesus Christ have a word with yourself.

Let us pray you’re never rescued by a female police officer.
Report TheBaron August 27, 2018 11:03 AM BST
Even being generous it was a bit OTT on fulfilling the female authority figure quota in the first 20 mins.  When its so obvious it becomes counter productive.
Report saddo August 27, 2018 11:05 AM BST
I know for sure I'd never be rescued by a gang of em. Preach might be a poor choice of word, but only a blind idiot would fail to see the message we are being fed.
Report Mr Eboue August 27, 2018 11:08 AM BST
You’re right. It’s one massive BBC conspiracy that shows women doing roles in a fictional drama that they do in everyday life.

You’re a true inspiration saddo.
Report Ramruma August 27, 2018 11:12 AM BST
The Prime Minister is a woman.
The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police is a woman.
The last two Home Secretaries were women -- Keeley Hawes said she based her performance on Amber Rudd, although the writing seems to be based more on Theresa May.

If it is unrealistic to show women snipers and train guards, who cares? You might as easily object that most suicide bombers are men. And since actresses don't get paid as much, at least the BBC is saving a few quid on casting. Devil

A bigger problem for me was the ex-army PTSD subplot which was all a bit clichéd Vietnam War veteran on last century's American telly, and not very well acted.
Report TheBaron August 27, 2018 11:13 AM BST
Heard an ad on the radio for the Army trying to encourage women to join. Apparently the men don't notice you're a woman!
