TBF it was an interesting OP & we have sh1t on it.
Genius is very open to debate. Very clever people are often poor at personal interaction and don't get the nuance in a situation but damn they know physics. So who is cleverer the guy who can understand complex maths or the guy who can navigate the world he lives in? |

By:
Bernard Manning

|
By:
It would take a genius to navigate their way around Bernard Manning

It would take an expedition with very little hope of returning alive

I'm not convinced that someone who, for whatever reason, happens to discover something in a lifetimes work, with thousands of others on the case,
eg the cure for cancer.... Whilst that would be a tremendous accolade, I don't think that a "one off" event is enough to make that person be described as a genius! On the other hand, someone who has created a prolific amount of unique, and radical constructions, would certainly be a genius! One such person is Antoni Gaudi, of whom it is difficult to come to terms with how one person could achieve so much in a lifetime! |

Isaac Newton made perhaps the most important single discovery ever but when you read about some
of the other stuff he believed in and studied then he sounds like a nutbar. |
|
By:
I think brassneck might be close to being a genius because he has all sorts of interesting little ideas and follies

^ I bet he says he was both a genius & a nutbar

By:
Didn't Newton spend a lot of effort on alchemy?
|
|
By:
Yes, Newton was an alchemist but alchemy was the forerunner of chemistry. This was the dawn of modern science.

they say(who ever THEY are)that there is only a split of a hair on your head in distance between a nutbar and a genius.
