A newspaper has published details of one of the complaints of sexual harassment made against Alex Salmond.

The Daily Record claims to have seen the wording of an allegation by a Scottish government staff member.

She alleges the former first minister touched her bottom and breasts through her clothing while she was alone with him at Bute House, the paper reports.

Mr Salmond strenuously denies the claims and insists he has never sexually harassed anyone.

The alleged incident reported by the Daily Record is said to have taken place at the first minister's official residence Bute House in Edinburgh in the first week of December 2013.

The paper claims the woman alleges "multiple incidences of harassment and conduct of an unwanted sexual nature".

The newspaper, which broke the story late on Thursday, says the allegations, and those of a second complainer have been passed to the police.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We are carrying out an assessment of information which we have received and enquiries are at an early stage."

Mr Salmond's successor as first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, said the situation was "difficult for me to come to terms with" given her long history with Mr Salmond, but claims "could not be ignored".

Ms Sturgeon revealed that she first informed of the investigation by Mr Salmond himself in April and had no prior knowledge of complaints being made against him.

For your information JC, I wasn`t trying to find anything about gazza. I went to my aol email and it was the headlines. So you are wrong there. There have been many threads about gazza and I have never said anything bad about the man. On the contrary I have supported him and sympathised about his illness and sad state of affairs.

Mr Salmond has not been found guilty of any offence, yet everyone is jumping on him simply because they hate him or don`t agree with his politics. The same people who have came out with the rubbish that women in past cases are simply after money, a statement which I completely disagree with.

The point I am making is the complete inconsistency on here. Both men are innocent until proven guilty, although the difference is that gazza has been charged by the Police, if the article is true, Mr Salmond (who is not the leader of the SNP or even an MP for your information) has not. And it was our glorious leader Nicola that instigated the investigation on the complaints which is the right thing to do.

No ones knows what the complaints even are, yet you all have the man guilty already. I don`t know what was meant to have happened but I don`t believe he is guilty, until it is proven otherwise.

No idea whether Salmond did these things but he was MP (Westminster days) where I used to live and was reasonably
respected as a good constituency MP . I had better watch what I say but he didn't put all of his constituents at ease.

Mac the big difference here is that internally this has been investigated. It's been ongoing for 5 months.
The fact that it has been forwarded to the police and not just dismissed suggests there might be some truth to the accusations.
Salmond strangely said he had no qualms with the complainants but merely by the procedures.

Interestingly, I was exposed to the (very rich) boss of a friend of mine recently and by god he couldn't speak a sentence without an F or a C and a LOT of Cs. It wasn't clever, I was surprised. We all know this is a smear by the underhanded, decietful, lying, evil, incompetent UK, to try and hurt the Indy and yes movement. A well-timed smear campaign is a terrible thing to counter. It is the lowest act of a political snake in the grass. All you can do is expose the snake, ( and it's history) to such a degree that a full confession of intent, retraction of accusations, and apology, are legally enforceable.
