A knifeman was shot dead by police after he attempted to stab officers in a suspected terrorist attack at a police station in Barcelona.

Officials said the suspect was shot dead after pulling a knife out at the station in the Cornella district on the outskirts of the city.

Commissioner Rafel Comes, the second-in-command of the Barcelona police, told a news conference that the man shouted "Allah" and other words that police officers did not understand.

He Shouted ALLAH and they blew his head off More Like it Grin

as with any terrorism for them to be able to exist in a community they have to have others who support them or turn a blind eye

they have plenty of support as we see in many surveys

French Interior Minister Gérard Collomb said the incident was not currently being treated as a terror attack.

Speaking in the south-western suburb of Trappes where the incident took place, Mr Collomb said the attacker appeared to have had "significant psychiatric problems".

Some reports say the man threatened to kill police and shouted "Allahu Akbar" ("God is greatest" in Arabic) before he was shot. - BBC.

What I find so reassuring is that Govt ministers are not only great parliamentarians but they are also experts in psychiatry, especially with regard to people they've never met...

I have a theory (it's only a theory , mind you) that it is the daily reading of a deranged work of fiction that leads to these so-called "significant psychiatric problems" .

There are many examples of individuals quoting directly from this book whilst in the act of committing atrocities worldwide . If any other book or film resulted in just a fraction of the number of 'copycat killings' it would be banned immediately by any reasonable government .

A lad from the Phillipines worked for me as a secretary during my time and got himsellf arrested in 1990 for handing out bibles in downturn Riyadh. We got him out but he was so devout he said he would go back and preach as Jesus suffered for his faith. Mightily impressed I was, but to my shame I took the pragmatic approach and sent him home with both hands still in place.

The Phillipino lad was clearly deluded to believe that because some fictitious character in a storybook did something he should follow suit in real life .
I read Dr Doolittle as a child but never for one moment did I really consider it a good idea to enter a lions den and sit down for a chat with the residents Silly

He was incredibly brave, knowing full well the implications. Apparently each Easter a group offer themselves for crucifixion with nails through the palm to endure the pain that Jesus suffered for a short while, the idea of that doesn't bear thinking about for me but it shows how ardent faith can be in some people. Fortunately I wasn't called upon to explain matters as we agreed to send him home quietly to prevent an incident.
