Shirley cars in the future will have speed limiters which can be triggered by roadside transmitters. I agree with the AA in this case, looking at your speed every few seconds is akin to using a phone/stereo. The eyes should be on the road.

Exactly the point....they are not accurate, which is the reason for the otherwise tolerance!

Even fitting different tyres could be a problem!

I find speedos to be set to 2mph below the limit (unless I'm swimming at the time).

Easy checked by a "please slow down" sign as one enters a 30mph zone.

Reading the link, and plus other explanations, what they say is that they are set higher, so that, given any speed criteria you would always be within the limits, and that makes a great deal of sense to me!

I think they want to make peoples time driving as unpleasant as possible so when driverless cars are rolled out everybody will welcome them with open arms.

How remiss of me, LFV - I got that the wrong way round.  There's a speed sign near here that shows 27 or 28 when my speedo shows a tad either side of 30.

trilby, an expert on the radio said that speed signs aren't as accurate as speed cameras.

This is a radar sign, Dr.  Flashes your speed up in green 30 or under and flashes it in red when over.  I'd agree cameras are more accurate for when the mobile squad are out catching people.

I was pootling along at the limit in a 30 zone this morning and could see a van driver behind getting agitated. On a clear straight stretch he came zooming past straight through a camera 50 yards ahead. He must have been doing at least 40. The irony is that I caught up with him at the queue at the next traffic island.

What concerns me is the proliferation of 20 mph zones for no apparent reason. Easy to get caught out.

While I have always voted Tory, like all political parties their a bunch of lying cxnts. I can them saying that they would be the friend of the motorist and that Blair's government were using motorists as a cash cow.
