Bungling thieves are snared by police after removing tracker device from £75,000 Range Rover they stole from solicitor's driveway and leaving it in their OWN vehicle

Laith Khan, 33, and Atiq Rahman, 31, were themselves tracked by police officers

The Birmingham pair admitted stealing the Range Rover which was later found

They received suspended jail sentences after police found them two miles away

They were lucky to get a suspended sentence as they had gone equipped, this was no spur of the moment theft, but from the story it looks like they may have been forced into committing the crime, for which they clearly had no talent.

Also in the BMW, the officers discovered various pieces of equipment including a key programmer, Range Rover key fobs, and a single false number plate.

Damage to the Range Rover, which was found in Riverside Drive, Solihull, had been caused when the tracker was removed, and one number plate had been replaced with a false plate which matched the one found in Khan's BMW.

It's no wonder crime is out of control when pathetically lenient sentences are given out for crimes of this scale.

It's like the court has told them to be more careful next time and not get caught.

Just what is the point of the police and the justice system?

It must be soul destroying for the police, they catch criminals only to see them get off so lightly

If -- as claimed and reported -- the criminals were forced into this, and provided with all the gear, then we are in drug mule territory. I'd rather the police concentrated on the big cheeses rather than these street level idiots who will just be replaced by their bosses.

This pair of muppets put the tracker into their own car. Clearly these are no criminal masterminds.
