I'll admit I am not very knowledgeable about rappers, but, are the ones killed, well-known in the 'rapping scene'?
Is being a rapper a proper, paid job? - if so I hope it pays well because it seems to be very dangerous.
Or is it like a dangerous hobby like base jumping, rock climbing etc?

Indeed.  A quite laughable non-job.

The solitary saving grace is that the person considers themselves employed. They will thus not be entitled to, or seeking Jobseeker's Allowance, if that's what they still call it.
