There should be 2 qualifying rules.
1. You were born in the country you represent
2. You have lived 10 years in the country you represent.
No Grandparents, wives, mothers, etc, and definitely no "we'll give you 100 k to run for us"
Worlds, Olympics fine. Represent who you want.
I'm watching the men's 10k, and Turkey have 3 ex Kenyans running for them?
Until the governing body sort this out, it's a pointless championships.

I remember watching David Bedford, Brendan Foster etc when I was young, now we have to put up with the likes of Tom Daley and a plethora of mincing millennials. At least the womens shorts have got smaller revealing some lovely @rses.

Myself also D.G.I was a regular at the Crystal Palace athletics meeting they held there from mid 70's onwards and saw all the greats of track and field there over the years. They were always a sell out and sometimes the only way to get in was to buy from one of the many ticket touts operating in the car parks.
Now as regards to athletics and this European championship in general I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in watching any of it and I couldn't name any member of the G.B. squad!

Could I just clarify, please (Gravy & Slippy): Your main turn-offs from watching athletics these days (ie. European Champs on atm) is that most of the GB team is under 30, plus Tom Daley's a gayer? Confused

I have been pleasantly surprised how few athletic mercenaries have appeared in these championships.
Perhaps the governing body have got the message.
Only our Anguillan 100m champion has spoilt the party (we would still have got the gold with London born Reece Prescod)

Anguilla is a British overseas territory. Nothing wrong with him running as part of the GB team.

Indeed.

I'm also pleasantly surprised that more Pretendy Women haven't got in on the racket of running in the Women's events. One to watch for I suspect, as Europe is in the throes of gender self-identification madness.

Indeed. Some of them are worthy of Olympians. Let's hope they all qualify for 2020.

A plea to UK Athletics please get Laura Weightman on your asthma programme it's painful viewing (like Paula the anaemic, asthma sufferer was before she was remedied) and will be painful for her the girl's all heart but every time she's appeared on local news it's been arduous at both ends.
