Really liked the one they used on the Trigger Happy TV soundtrack: "Everyday". Hadn't heard it before hearing it on that programme. Lots of good music used on that series actually! Dom Joly must have good taste.

Like you case, I thought I had bought just about every single as a kid, just about my fav nowadays is that "Everyday " that hfink refers to , do you know if that was released as a single as I don't seem to have it?

In the mid-1990s I was told at work Oasis were brilliant, they had written a great song called C'mon Feel the Noise ....

By:
Their cover is great though.
Slade were good band..underrated didn't they have 6 number 1's or something? Hard to do back then. |

Seen them twice, once in their heyday at the Belfry, brilliant and then when just past their prime at Barbarellas brum. So incredibly loud but the best live band i've seen.
How does it feel was a great ballad as well. |
|
By:
Pretty sure they haven't been given the recognition they deserve.
Yet. |
|
By:
yes i agree with the oposters who thought they were unerated. have most of their original vinyl albums which are worth a few quid these days
merry christmas song was ghastly and saldy what they are mosr remembered for. they were touring lately but i didnt go ad noddy holder was not with them - wouldnt be slade without him. he has said he will never do a re unioun gig with thewm probably done very well for himself post slade, great band |
|
By:
They were OK ...but not great.
I even played pool once with Noddy Holder (Rags Club Mayfair) ...he's a great guy very down to earth. |
|
By:
They said bananas could get you high.

They were like a lot of British groups the music was secondary , almost an afterthought to the act
The dressing up and theatrics etc This meant that ultimately there was something missing from the music it was insubstantial With American groups the music came first and second and last That’s of course a generalisation but is why American music and bands were greater |
|
By:
Not that there were not great British artists and bands , there were
Slade were not one of them |
|
By:
And neither were Mud or Showaddywaddy or the Bay city Rollers or T Rex or Sweet etc etc
|
|
By:
They simply can’t be compared to the great American pop groups and solo
And then again rock bands |
|
By:
Posh
|
|
By:
It’s like attempting to compare Kylie Mynogue to Karen Carpenter or Sam Cooke
It just can’t be done |
