A poorly worded question imo, are we talking in general or about people hitting 70 & how many will see 80.
Think we need some clarification Tongue Out

I'd settle for going in that age bracket as it stands.

Another question concerning people in their 70s, is the percentage who are taking medication for the usual ailments?
It's rare to find a couple in their 60s these days without one of them taking something.

Is this what we were designed for? I doubt it very much, something is very wrong.

In evolutionary terms, genetic defaults showing up beyond the age of forty weren't bred out of the gene pool since few lived or reproduced beyond that age. Many of us are now living longer than nature intended.

So it's not natural to live to 85+, which is now the case for many?

So what is our natural lifespan?

It's best not to look at the average age people die, there are different tables which is the average length you are expected to live at any given age which is probably what you are interested in, which initially seem counter intuitive but not once you think about it.

I.e. say the average age people die at is 75, but you are 76, it's not like you have an average length of time to live of -5 minutes. It might be 10 years or something, taking you to well above the average death age.

Actually here's a US table, so e.g. age 70 average life expectancy is say 14.3 years.

ADD 4 years to your dads age( if you smoke)and 7 years( if you dont smoke) and if your dad hit 75 year mark you will get a good average of your life expectancy.
By:
brassneck

so if your dad reached 93 and you dont smoke you are on the way to a century.Grin

Stop living, eating and drinking like a greedy overindulgent Westerner then at least you'll a chance of living without illness for longer, easier said than done for most but if those with fcuk all and hard lives in far away untapped civilisations can do it and live to 100 and beyond we should be able to.

Scissors I think the people you want to see living until 100 are the people you are related to not your partner Wink
It's your partner that'll be coining it into an old age after you are long gone, buying big print crosswords books, stair lifts and gin with your gambling winnings!

I was passing the Travel Agency today and there was a big sign stating, "Free World Cruise To All OAPs". There were dozens of Pensioners flocking to the shop but all were exiting quick with a huge look of disappointment on their faces.

"Is there something wrong", I asked a couple, "Did you not get the FREE World Cruise as advertised"?

"No", they replied, "It states in the small print that to qualify for the offer, one has to be accompanied by one`s parents"!

Went to the hospital today.

Never seen so many dead people walking.  Massive bums and bellies everywhere.

And most of the patients were as bad.

Yes you are correct.

What I am trying to find out is what percentage of people living in the UK die during their 70s'.

Or if anyone can find the % info for the ages below as I cannot seem to find this info online.

< 20 years of age.
20 - 30 years of age.
31 - 40
41 - 50
51 - 60
61 - 70
71 - 80
