The onus is, as always, for the public to just keep spending, whether they have it to spend or not.

The number of times I come to buy something, mainly power tools etc, it always takes me 3-4 days solid reviewing whats available, what the differences are, whats included in each sale compared to others, what all the acronyms stand for, what model year it is etc etc etc just to try and compare one item with another.

Its just got to such a state that there is so much noise and so much choice and so many pitfalls due to companies having their own opportunism where somebody isnt quite upto snuff comes and pays over the odds for an outdated model of something.

(Then theres inbuilt obsolescence, you buy it and everything changes within 6 months, the product is old and the parts required wont fit so the machine is dying on its arse.)

The equilibrium of need has been left far behind, now choice actually COSTS you money in the time you have to spend working it all out.

Johnson won both elections for Mayor of London and each of the last four times he's stood in General Elections.

How many votes has Lineker ever won, please? His only contribution to public life until now has been his appearance in the Paradise Papers (a tax avoidance scheme relating to property owned in Barbados and a company set-up in the British Virgin Islands).

As we all know, the political system isnt anything close to a test of popularity.
Its a select offering of careerist individuals fighting over dog's vomit.
You got to pick one of em....or, as many choose, dont even bother.

Id say Lineker is far more popular, and hasnt got the stain of being a political opportunist to boot.Wink

If you were to survey, Id guess Lineker would be picked the more likely of the two to be the voice of the people, whether you like him or not.
I know there are plenty who dislike him, Im ambivalent....though I dispise boris.

Well, Lineker did come second to Nigel Mansell in the Sports Personality of the Year contest once, which means he should have been declared the winner, if you use the same logic he applies to the Referendum result.

Coincidentally, he's spent the last 30 years complaining about that result too, and for much the same reasons (people didn't what they were voting for, because they'd forgotten about his Golden Boot in the World Cup).

Who would ruin their brand by picking boris you reckon? Excited

People like Lineker would do well to not spout ill thought nonsense on such public platforms.

What sort of 'banana republic' would we become if we failed to recognise the results of a democratic vote, until the outcome sought by the power brokers went in their favour?!

The media lefties giving far too much airtime to such outrageous ramblings. It would be like referees not blowingthe final whistle until Man Utd scored because of some despotic manager whom everybody fears.........oh hang on a second... Laugh

Can't believe you food kerrs managed to turn a righteous crusade against the evil of QVC into another ****ing argument about Brexit.

It's not like we don't get enough of it! I don't want to hear about it!

Having said THAT I'd love to see QVC have a day selling "we're leaving, up yours remoaners" commemorative plates and mugs.Wink

Well charwell, given that the whole thing was just a self indulgent attempt to stop in fighting within the tories that simply disregarded any problems that might arise from the ref. Id say that banana republic is pretty apt. Especially since the privileged were the ones whimsically arguing it would all be a piece of p iss.....only for them all to slink off over the horizon when the whole thing started to turn sour.

But then thats it all isn't it, give unsubstantiated 'info' and soundbites to the people whether they are true or not, and when it all goes wrong, so what?
Theres plenty in their bank accounts and always another cushy little number over rewarding them on limited merit.

It comes to something when it takes an ex tory PM (no not that tit who got us in this mess) Sir John Major ,to say it as it is when he said its those at the bottom who will suffer most on a no deal brexit, and they are more likely the ones disenfranchised with the whole 'democracy' in the first place.
