I just had a Tesco fish pie which cost me £2.00 in a deal

and it really was very nice

you go to a restaurant, you're paying £8 at least

it's no wonder nobody has any money in this country

I would seriously put that up there with the experience you'd get in a restaurant

Okay making it yourself would be even better but it would be a lot of washing up

Yes, when you compare the cost of a banana with a chocolate bar there really is no excuse for not eating well on a low budget.

The Tesco £10.00 meal deal is very good...

1 main...1 side...1 desert & 1 drink, and plenty for two meals.

If you say £5.00 for the wine, you are getting all the rest for a fiver!

All excellent, other than the "Open Wellington Filo Pastry" which just collapses in cooking, and the steak meal.
that I didn't expect to be good, and it wasn't!

I know that Morrisons do a similar deal, and so do M&S, who I think were first with the concept.

The M&S £10 meal deal is far superior to Tecos, they offer a cheeseboard option for dessert which is good for me as I don't eat cheesecake or anything sweet. Their white wine is much better as well imo and for a tenner it's a really good value for money deal.
Report Lady Faye Verrit June 25, 2018 1:22 PM BST
Yes Slippy, I expected that, but don't have M&S anywhere near to me....

I also don't buy indulgent deserts like what are offered and, given the chance, they go to the kids.

I've been juicing lately. Just fruit and water. Often bananas and soft fruit. Frozen berries very cheap. Incredibly good value.

btw how cheap are bananas?!!! 20p each or so. Incredible.
Report Makybe_Diva June 25, 2018 7:22 PM BST
Exactly, Injera.

No excuse for anyone to say it costs too much to eat healthily. This is an excuse that is often used.

I love Tesco frozen berries too. Great for smoothies or heating up in the microwave to have with some cream.

Tesco used to do do frozen avocado halves but I haven't seen them for a long while.

I have never had one of the meal deals that Slippy and Lady Faye are talking about.

I don't drink so I wouldn't want a bottle of wine.

Me neither I'm still just keeping it simple and trying to eat a bit more on exercise days plus grabbing the odd bit of fruit like yourself.

Diva....the wine is just one alternative.

There are soft drinks too.....

Word of warning though...make sure you pick up all of the courses, as otherwise you will be charged full price, at the till!

Bananas are indeed slightly radioactive.

You learn something new everyday on chit-chit.
Report Aspro June 26, 2018 3:52 PM BST
Need to keep the potassium levels up. Low potassium can be life threatening so keep up those bananas Diva Grin
Report Makybe_Diva June 26, 2018 5:10 PM BST
I certainly will, Aspro Happy

I've read that I would have to eat 10,000,000 bananas at once for them to kill me?
Report DenzilPenberthy June 26, 2018 5:13 PM BST
Some say 195 some say 487
Report Aspro June 26, 2018 5:16 PM BST
10m bananas! Don't think it'll be the radioactivity that would kill you with that many Laugh
Report Makybe_Diva June 26, 2018 5:55 PM BST
Lol, yes, Aspro.

This is from The Independent

"Yes, you will certainly die from radiation poisoning if you are able to eat 10,000,000 bananas at once. You may also witness chronic symptoms if you eat 274 bananas a day for seven years."

I read somwhere the other day that said something like "eat two bananas a day and see what happens to your health".

I couldn't find anyhthing that said what would actually happen Confused

Something good I would imagine.
Report Dr Crippen June 26, 2018 6:35 PM BST
If we drink too much water it can kill us.
We're unlikely to drink too little because we get thirsty.

Yet the myth that we have to drink a certain amount of water whether we're thirsty or not persists.
Report Lady Faye Verrit June 27, 2018 11:30 AM BST
Unfortunately too many take it literally and it needs clarification!

The two litres can be, pretty much, any consumable liquid, being essentially water!

So tea, coffee, beer, wine, soft drinks etc all count, and most people will be sufficiently hydrated,
without forcing down another two litres of water in addition!
Report Callisto-moon June 27, 2018 12:43 PM BST
the last waitrose £10 meal deal was lovely.
some great main courses and plenty of soft drink options and fruit instead of sugary puds.
